IF Rooney goes I'd like to see Kagawa giving a chance in the role behind RVP. But if he goes we would imo need to bring in someone of high quality, who would chip in with goals and assists or we could fall behind.

He is very calm in front of goal judging by his goals at the emirates and being Spanish obviously he is good on the ball.
A perfect Rooney replacement for cheap.

Not many players could replace Rooney and if he does go and RVP picks up an injury, we are in trouble

The trouble is, Wayne is just so versatile. Prolific number 9, exceptional number 10. We don't have a player at the club that could do everything he does so for me, it's an absolute must that we keep him.

He can replace RVP if he gets injured and play in front of Kagawa. He can play behind RVP or Chich or Welbeck and he could easily play either side of the 3 in a 4231 too as well as the main man up top.

Replacing him will be almost impossible

I think you have enough cover for the AMC position in Kagawa, Cleverly, Young and Fellani (assuming he comes).

Strikers though you would have RVP, Chico and Welbeck - considering that Welbeck often plays to the side of RVP that dosnt leave much cover.

Also if RVP is out for a couple of months would you're current strike force be able to chip in with the goals?

Eto was a good shout, Zlatan maybe available but other than that I can't think of any top class strikers who would be available.

We've already replaced Rooney with 2 players in Kagawa and RVP.

Hence why Rooney wants to leave.

We need midfielders and hopefully the Rooney money goes on one or two of them.

I'm all for giving Kagawa the opportunity to shine as an attacking midfielder next season.

We need to develop more of a team ethic and we can only do that by keeping a settled lineup.

People are looking too much at next season and not the long term. Kagawa hasn't shown he can replicate Rooney's numbers in a United shirt as he's not really had the chance and we haven't been playing the type of football to get the best from him.

Hopefully these may come next season and even more so in the future. For me that's why replacing Rooney with someone that can do what Rooney does is pointless - as all people are doing is scouring around for a player that can play in numerous positions and get big numbers. And to Rooney's credit, these are not all that common.

What most people seem to ignore is that Rooney doesn't want to play for us anymore.

And with that in mind he's of no use to us at all and even Bebe could replace him as he actually wants to play for United.

Obviously there will be rotation of wingers involved but if reports are true and we are in for Fellaini, it will allow the wingers to finally feel free to express themselves in an attacking sense with less defensive tasks involved.

The problem is Kagawa isn't a winger.

However much we don't want to sell Rooney to Chelsea the fact is he wants to go and keeping him isn't going to do us many favours in the long run.

The reason Kagawa wasn't a massive success last season was down to the way we played, although I like Fellaini I don't see our game changing to suit Kagawa if he is brought in. He just isn't the type of player who plays the neat, tidy, quick passing game.

In an ideal world I would replace Rooney with Bale but that isn't going to happen. I would like us to have an actual left sided winger (preferably left footed), Reus, Lamela,...?

The answer could well be Willian of Anzhi.

The guy is a left winger and is of very high quality and is being released by Anzhi this week.

That could be interesting. Was he the Brazilian kid we were after a while back?

If Rooney leaves I don't think it's imperative we sign a player that can play as the main cf as well as well behind the striker.

Although Wayne has played there it's a myth that he's ever played as the main cf with any regularity - including 09-10, when he played there a fair bit but not all season like some will have you believe. He played many times off of Berba and Owen that year. If I remember correctly it was only towards the end of the season and in the big games we put him up top on his own as Berba and Owen weren't pulling their weight.

Last season Welbeck, RVP and Hernandez played more games as cf than Rooney, who was very much 4th choice cf.

Once people acknowledge that Wayne Rooney Manchester United's superstar cf is in fact, and never really has been, a cf then we will find it a hell of a lot easier to debate targets.

Not sure. But he was exceptional for Shakhtar and it's a miracle he's becoming available after the weird Anzhi meltdown.
