I think after this world cup Spanish FA will have to sack Del boy? I strongly feel Spain would have had a better title defence if they had another manager who had read the signs well coming into this tournament.

Robben was the player of the tournament for me. Defenders were really scared stiff to face him with his turn of pace I never even knew he possessed. Can't believe he is 31!!

I felt he was pretty poor the whole tournament except maybe the Spain match.

The German coach impressed me with his tactical flexibility in defence. Played Boateng when playing a high line but Merte when playing a deep defensive line.

Also, for those that say that Khedira isn't a holding midfielder, just see how open they were at times today.

The line wasn't that deep when he played Mert. He was exposed a lot, in the Algeria game I think it was?

That's more to do with Khedira being good at pressing than him sitting and holding. Seems to spend more time in the opponents half than his own, to be honest.

Khedira just doesn't seem to have any outstanding qualities. Other than stamina.

Like I've said many times on here, I'd have him if there was no other choice, but I'd be underwhelmed at his signing. Particularly if the rumours of 20M + and 150k a week are true.

He's good friends with Ozil aswell I guess.

Not the biggest fan of Khedira either.

No it was actually quite deep! I remember the keeper playing as a sweeper so many times in that game. The only reason Mert played against Brazil is there was no way they would play a high line with Brazil's long diagonal balls.

Think Mert played 2nd half against Brazil when they were 5-0 up.

I'm not knocking Mert, he is a quality defender, but his mobility/speed are just . Facking Treebeard would give him a run for his money.

That's what I was thinking.

Yep, Loew was also worried about Mert being exposed against Algeria, he didn't start him again. Next opponents were France, Brazil and Argentina.
