As I've said before - the signings this week are very uninspiring. I don't understand why people are getting excited about them.

And before anyone wades in, I'm not saying they're useless because I don't know. I'll trust Megson's judgement that they can do a job but I don't see anything in their careers so far that suggests they are the ones to take us up.

O'Grady did well the season before last and hopefully he can improve with us but his goals return last season was poor.

Lines I've never heard of and again, he did well the season before last but doesn't seem to have great reports. I like the fact he's played 40+ games the last few seasons though; I think we definitely need players who know the ropes and don't seem to pick up injuries. Maybe he's just one for the squad.

Folk have banged on all summer about us taking a punt on players, signing young hungry lads instead of has-beens on their way down.

When we do that, folk label them as not exciting & uninspiring because they've never heard of them or seen them play.

No win situation for the club.

They are 2 players who could do ok for us but probably won't improve what we already have a great deal. I expect they will play a fairly small part in the 1st team unless we get injuries. For me it's good to have back up and I would personally use the same approach as last night to other less important cup games such as JPT.

I'd expect us to sign 2 more players who will improve on what we already have however.

Well like ive said im reserving judgement till I see Uchechi play, and that goes for Lines too but on the other hand Meggy knows a good player when he see's one and I trust him to get the best out of these players.

I don't know about 'folk' but I'm labelling them uninspiring and not exciting because I've looked at their career history and they ain't done a great deal and noone is exactly singing their praises. Unlike Semedo, Bennett, Reynolds,M Morrison and others who had good pedigrees and reports and had been in PFA teams of the season, won player of the year awards of been part of teams that have got out of this league.

All of that don't mean I'm booing the new players before they've started or saying they're rubbish.

Good point mega. Ucheci? is coming on loan with a view to a permanent signing in January so he is clearly taking a look at him. Lines is a youngish player who will probably be more of a squad player. Pleased with both signings and glad we aren't throwing stupid money at people like Mellor and Koumas etc

So am I consy, but that said, i'd be qiute excited if we did get Koumas in but we'd end up paying him stooopid money and that is something that we cannot fall into anymore, like when the likes of Carbone, Di Canio, De Bi-acth and Sibon sucked us dry, we should only pay out for "silly" money on players if we are in a good postion to and not live beyond our means like last time, much rather see a good team rather than 11 fancy dans!!

the trick is to get the best out of unknown or unrated players instead of forking out millions on players who have a fantastic c.v.! Meggo obviously sees something in these players which suits his style of play and will no doubt turn them into what he wants, upgrading their status and market value on the way! Players often up their game when going to a bigger and better supported club and, depending on the players around them, should give a much improved performance! Prutton has so far demonstrated my case when compared to his performances with Swindon! In megson I trust!!

Hope you're right. I don't expect us to fork out millions - just thought someone like Le Fondre would be better. I guess there's no guarantee he'll get goals either mind.
