So then very attacking line up..surprised to see Lucas not playing as Villa are good on the counter

With city and arsenal winni g we need to win to cling on to them but more importantly pile on the pressure on united tomorrow who will be eight points behind us tonight if we win.

What worries me is whe we dont play woth lucas we look so exposed in defence.

Gerrard will be sitting very deep today I'd imagine to protect the back four.

Must win game

I like that team except the defence

I'm not surprised that Lucas is on the bench, in fact I predicted it on another thread. This is a game where we need to break Villa down and score first. Disappointed that Sahko is hasn't made it.

4-2-2-2'ish formation i reckon. With sterling staying out wide and Coutinho coming in slightly.

Toure did very very well against Benteke in the reverse fixture this season, let's hope he can do the same today.

It's scary how many goals City are scoring this season. Just look at this:

Aguero - 21
Negredo - 21
Dzeko - 16
Toure - 14

It's January

Tbf it was either drop the 3 man midfield for Studge or drop either Coutinho or Sterling and neither deserved to be dropped.

Needs to stick to Benteke like glue today does Toure..what's villa's line up?

Aston Villa: Guzan, Bacuna, Vlaar, Clark, Bertrand, El Ahmadi, Westwood, Delph, Agbonlahor, Weimann, Benteke. Subs. Steer, Sylla, Helenius, Albrighton, Luna, Gardner, Holt.

That front three on their day can be a handful-pace and power

Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling ALL starting!?! This will either go really well or really badly.

Benteke would have to end his drought the game before he plays us wouldn't he

Probably their strongest team, can see a very open game with quite a few goals either way today

Our bench doesn't fill me with confidence either if we go a goal behind either. Come on FSG show us ya momey!
