If we kept him his wages would have gone up anyway, so you could say we saved money while his was gone

The wages part was a guesstimate yes, however I dont think his wages would have gone up had he stayed. As he wouldnt have been given the chance to prove how good a player he is (like the experience he got at portsmouth), and probably wouldnt be demanding such a high wage.

As someone who dislikes avb almost as much as chicken.

However, I was never fully convinced with the style of play and feel this season he got truly found out without Bale and his stubborn nature becoming more prominent

You have just written the exact reasons i disliked AVB as Spurs manager, and what i confirmed time & time again. So i dont know what the difference is. I have said time and time again, it was due to his management methods, negative tactics, stubborness etc - just like my opinion on any other manager, it is not based solely on scorelines, wins, losses or draws.

Sam Alladyce could win the next 3 games in his hoofball style, yet he would still get criticism from me because of his style - not the scoreline.
