And like I said before you mug. Why hasn't he ever shed a tear on all the other hillsbrough anniversary games he gas played in. Don't play that card pr!ck. he is in it for himself

Whoa!!!!! everyone, please, lets try and tone it down, it wasn't meant to be a slanging match between utd and liverpool, they've been done to death plenty of times before, i genuinely wanted peoples thoughts on gerrards reply to shrives regarding the speech.

What a pathetic article. Football fans moan about these overpaid, prima donna, mercenary footballers who don't care about football clubs. Here we have a player who, as the captain and senior player in the team, decided to talk to the players at the end of a very tough game, and he showed passion, he showed leadership qualities and all you idiots can do is pick holes in it and say that it was contrived. It really is pathetic.

If only Rooney could string 5 words together maybe he could galvanise your shower of a team at the moment.

Spot on FatJan. Captain tells team to remain focussed. Rival fans want to use it as a stick to beat him with. It really is standard for the people that frequent this website though.

Don't see what the problem is. After he said none of your business, which I imagine was meant to be taken as a joke, he said it's about preparing for Norwich which is basically what he said in the huddle.

try reading the article instead of automatically assuming the worst, it didn't have to be gerrard, it could have been any footballer

Mata: Could it be that this is the first year that the truth has actually come out and now the families of the victims can actually see light at the end of the tunnel?

But I see it doesn't really matter what I (or anybody else says), you will always be a bitter deluded single cell organism who only frequents these forums to assure yourself of your self importance.

Never mind, one day you will find somebody to love you but in the meantime keep telling yourself that what you have to say is of some relevance.

I have said my piece and will now say goodbye.

Oh please. What a thinly veiled attack. So Stevie should cry every year? And if he doesn't cry the first year means he can never cry in subsequent years?

posted on 14/4/14

Also so happens to the first year in gerrards career that Liverpool have seriously challenged and look like they could possibly win it. And that was one of the most important games in Gerrards career funny that.

But yeah thank you and feck off

The old crocodile tears in front of the cameras, but not a tear to be seen.

He has always been like that, always Stevie first and the rest come a distant second. After having an average game Stevie decided to steal the show by shedding a tear and organising the group hug.

What do you mean by 'assuming the worst?' I never made any assumptions.

I read your article where you called it contrived. then I read the comments that decended into name calling and spouting of hatred and bile.

You gave people the forum to have a go at a player. They duely responded.

Alot of posters on here have joined the 'have a pop at Liverpool no matter how trivial or far fetched' brigade.

I thought what Gerrard did was perfect. The team were about the celebrate perhaps over the top judging by Johnson and Skrtel hugging each other like the league was won.

He simply got the boys together and reminded them that we still have 4 cup finals to go so get back in the changing room and focus on Norwich.

posted on 14/4/14

After a result like that the group hug comes naturally. Of course the captain gets in a few words during the hug and nothing better to say to the lads than to keep the high performance levels up at the next game and not let it slip. Blinkered by the rivalry thats all I see here.

I'm not so sure, normally before those games but not so much after, there should be no doubt that a side is together, it seemed out of character for gerrard to let his emotions get the better of him that's why the article, but also like i said it may have been the whole occasion taking it's toll

posted on 14/4/14

Sure the emotions to the bigest win since Instanbul coupled with when the win came just got the better of Gerrard

No biggie for me.

He would have to be a seriously hard faced not to get emotional on an occassion like that being captain of Liverpool for so long

I actually wish United had a leader on the pitch like that this season

Can you imagine Carrick doing it Macca.

posted on 14/4/14

This has to be a joke. Atleast we didn't do a lap of honour but the group hug after the game is natural. This reeks of a desperate dig, sorry.

posted on 14/4/14

As I said before our reaction to the final whistle almost got out of hand. Skrtel and Johnson were not just hugging but they were bouncing with fists in the air, thesubs running on to the pitch etc etc

The skipper saw all this and put a stop to it and reminded them that we still have a long way to go.

Haha hell no

Ive never said carrick is captain material like one or two others have though

atleast we didnt do a lap of honour..

Anyway, in summary, as a LFC supporter I liked that he did it. I liek the fact that within minutes of winning a massive game he was asking his team to focus on the next one. He's a great Captain, one that I am exceptionally proud of, and if there is one thing that has been levelled at him about his leadership qualities it is that he maybe does not talk enough. Well not this time.

Good lad Stevie.

Good point. Tell you what as well that is infinitely more likely to be closer to the truth.

Phillipa, did you walk in on your mother with a Liverpool fan hanging out of the back of her when you were a young girl? That can be the only reason why you have so much vitriol and hatred towards Liverpool. It's unhealthy.
