So LVG confirmed with united, how do we feel about this, he's better then Moyes anyway

Again Ilori your dealing in absolutes when you know no more or less than anyone else..

I don't think we WILL buy shaw, but that doesn't render it an invalid topic of conversation considering we are in the market for a left back amd put high value in British talent.

Therefore if.I want to say "I would like it.if we signed shaw" there's no need for you to be a côckwomble over it.

There is a reason a lot.of.posters find you insufferable, Its comments like that which cause it.

Thought moyes was a poor appointment and got shot down over it. Think LVG is too..

People look at the club's he managed and think: good manager, without looking at what he did there.

Good at Ajax where he made his name.

Moved to barca, fell out with players, did (relatively speaking) badly with a very good squad of players, argued with the media, was hounded out

He then took over Holland, failed to get them to qualify from an easy group to the world cup, fell out with players and media, was sacked.

Back to Barcelona, argued with players, fell out with the media, got sacked with Barcelona 3 points above relegation.

Went to alkmaar, got a 3rd then 4th then 11th place finish, threatened to quit because the players were not trying hard enough, was convinced to stay, won the league the following season, a successful tenure again, the only other one which is indisputable aside from Ajax (both in Holland)

Then bayern, he took over a league and cup double winning team, alienated the striker (toni) who left as a result much tp the anger of the fans, started poorly due to his tactical inflexibility including an awful start to CL, it all settled down and they went on to win a league and cup double (again) the following season after he put his stamp on the squad they finished with nothing and he was sacked. (the next season they won a treble)

He then took over Holland and guided them to qualification for the 2014 world cup.

---

He is.a very mixed bag, with his only real successes being.in Holland (Steve mclaren anyone?) at barca and bayern he was unsuccessful without being terrible but his history is littered with players he has fallenbiut with, tactical inflexibility and arguments with the media.

I doubt he will flop, but i also doubt he is the right man for.right now, he doesnt have the character to rebuild teams or to get a team to be greater than the sum of its parts, at barca and bayern he was successful with inherited squads but got gradually worse as he bought in his own players.

And the United squad needs a 7 first team player overhaul.. It's a lot of money for them to gamble on his patchy reputation.

Because that's not.what you said.

You are consistently dismissive of people because you post in absolutes, that is your first post on thos subject where you have admitted that you THINK we won't buy shaw, where's before you were posting it as a definite.

Great post Insert

I think lots of united fans seem tothink all they need is a new manager and a few players and they're back challenging for the title, it's familiar as allot of us thought all we needed was a new manager and a fe wplayers post Roy and we woudl be back in the CL, didn't happen.

Plus none of them seem to be at all worried about the fact that LVG will have feck all of a pre season this year, Brendan has alrady said how difficult the first season was due to this, but united fans don't seem to factor this in.

He's also lost a lot of the old.guard with the fergie mentality, and vidic and Rio who were the bedrock of the latter ferguson era. Evra too.

He has a massive task to identify, and purchase without fault 7 first team players, he then needs to get those players bedded in to a.squad which has lost its identity.

He then needs get a new back 4 to seamlessly gel in readiness for the premier league, as well as bedding in a new midfield and getting the two areas of otherwise strangers to play like team mates.

All of this is a 6 week preseason? It's not happening this year in my opinion, and their situation will not be good enough come January to save their season with some more transfers.

Add to that loss.of revenue for being out the CL, Woodward said it will cost them 30million excluding prize money (30million for group stage)

They made a loss last year after tax amortisation interest and depreciation.

Their revenue will be 60 million lower. Yet they need 7 players at average 20? Million pounds each that's 140 million on top of their above 60 million pound losses.. Then there's wages, with rooney on 300k and rvp, mata at about 200k, those 7 players will average minimum 100k a week average (more. If you look at the names their fans expect) that's another 36 million in wages..

United will not sanction a spree that would see them post a 240million pound loss.. And if 3 of those players dident bed in well and they missed out again? Do they spend more? It's a dangerous spiral, and for me rooneys wage in particular is a lead weight that might contribute to dragging them down.

I personally thing de boer would have been maybe a better choice, with Van Gaal at spurs instead
