Any body see the charity shield?

No real indicator I'm sure but the way City destroyed us from start to finish is worrying after they have strengthened soheavily. 5-0 and a out of sight and what with us playing them every week we'll probably finish below Everton again.

Did i say you couldn’t Fred?

Just pointing out that Klopp has done extremely well and our squad is still really facking good.

You know signing players isn’t the only way to improve in football

Outrageous stuff i know.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Klopp has been excellent in the market, I cannot deny that.

But logically when you see teams around you strengthen well (on paper at least) whilst we sit on our hands, I personally find it a little disconcerting.

At the start of the window nobody sat here and said "we don't need anybody". Literally nobody said that we all thought we'd strengthen in some way so let's not pretend we all knew we'd sit on our hands.

It may well work, I hope it does.

Which teams strengthened well? Everton, West Ham? Perhaps, we'll see. United? Still way behind. Arsenal? Still way behind? City? Signed one player, still have issues in defence. Chelsea? Transfer ban. Spurs? Signed one played to replace the one they let go in January. Wolves? Yeah some good moves, can't see them being a threat to the title. Leicester? Same.

We'll see though.

I genuinely do not think our team is that much better than Spurs / Chelsea etc in fact we are closer to them than City. Last year always felt a bit of a freak.

But then again I'm a pessimist

Robbing I hope you're right but I can't help feeling we're going into the season being a little precarious relying on our front three to stay healthy.

That's just my opinion you have yours. Be boring if we all felt the same.

Well all i really felt we needed personally was cover at right back, with the emergence of Hoever in pre season i don’t see as much of a need.

Ox is back, Gomez is back, Keita has a year in the league now so can only be better (well surely, can’t be any worse right?), Fabinho is settled and in from the get go, TAA has an extra year in the league now.

I didn’t have quite the same desire for cover for the front 3 as everyone else, although i know I’m in the minority there. I just don’t get the distress personally. I think City aren’t any better despite the Rodri signing, they’ve lost Kompany and seem to be intent on shifting Fernandinho into the back four, and whenever he isn’t in midfield for them they’re worse.

We are much better than Hazard-less Chelsea.

I can see the closeness of Spurs and i tend to agree, but we are a lot better than Chelsea.

Fernandinho not playing in midfield was their big weakness last season. They've address that by signing Rodri and based on everything I read about him that's addressed that weakness.

We need a 4th attacker that can cover the front 3 without such a drop in quality...Who though?

For the £40m being talked about...I think that's our budget. Shocking to some after a CL win but some of us knew once the article came out about us spending projected money last season, we won't be spending much this season. Just the way it is.

We'll play City twice and we'll play Spurs twice. We'll also play Shef Utd and Norwich twice.

Each team will have 11 players and hopefully it will bring some kind of entertainment in the guise of sport.

Based on everything you’ve read about Rodri?

So he could be gash then.

posted on 7/8/19

Everything I read and had actually seen about Juan Sebastian Verdon, ever, was that he was a world class footballer.

I will bet money that Fabinho has as good or better season than Rodri.

posted on 7/8/19

Once Fabinho settled in last season he transformed our midfield and made us so much stronger there. Just him being ready to go from the beginning of the season will make us much better. When Gomez was alongside VVD last season we had the best defence in Europe, him being back fit will make a big difference. Ox being back will make a difference, as he adds something our midfield lacks - drive and a long range goal threat.

I could be being overly optimistic but i really think we’re better this season even without signing anyone else.

I do wish we’d kept hold of Wilson though.

posted on 7/8/19

Wonder what our strongest midfield is, we have 6 players that could all make a claim to be in it.

posted on 7/8/19

I’d go Hendo, Fabinho and Gini for now.

Long term maybe ox or Keita instead of Gini and/or Hendo.

I really hope Ox can come back the player he was when he got injured, he adds something we do lack in midfield

If Keita and Fabinho continue their end of season form and you throw in Ox as well we're absolutely stronger. Moreover I suspect last season will have given the lads a great deal of belief.

I had hoped the charity shield would convince people that we're actually a very decent side.

posted on 7/8/19

On paper its Fabinho, Keita & Ox. Norwich will give us an indication though of what Klopp believes in.

posted on 7/8/19

If I'm dusting off and putting on my optimist hat, then Keita will continue where he left off at the end of last season and Ox will be back to his strongest form and that will make us a stronger team.

Still would have liked cover for the front three but if Shaqiri steps up, Ox can play there and Origi up top.

Only 2 days to go

Imagine the outrage if we don't beat Norwich

Fans know we're a decent side though, I don't think anyone believes not signing someone will suddenly see us drop down to 5th place.

Some just think that the club is in it's best position for decades, and bringing in 1/2 players could be the difference between winning the title or not.

Origi was really good toward the end of last season tbf to him.

I’m excited to see what Brewster can do, Klopp has been bigging him up since Woodburn burst on the scene and everyone thought he’d make it.

Let’s see how he goes this season.

posted on 7/8/19

I'd go for Fabinho, Henderson and Keita myself. Bit of everything in there and bags of power.

If Origi can keep improving he'llbe very dangerous from the bench. Brewster and unknown quantity but one I'm excited about.

If Wilson leaves it would no sure is me to see someone come in but either way I'm fully expecting us to put Norwich to the sword.
