Hes had a pretty poor preseason for us

konates got a knock on his knee just to top off an awful showing.

I think phillips has improved on the ball tenfold.

strasbourg should have scored again, can see why they shocked everyone to finish 6th in ligue 1, play some good stuff

Anyways I know it’s just a friendly but thought we looked sharp against a strong city side.
They are a bit further back re fitness wise but we looked quite comfortable in and out of possession.

Nunez Camio was great, he’s got to start for me on Saturday.
He’s confidence must be right up at the mo was a live wire when he came on.

City players came back to preseason same time as us so I don't buy that not sharp excuse. We outplayed them twice now.

Also they struggled a little with a number 9 because its 1 less player in midfield. Our issue with City has always been the no striker. They dominate midfield against us and effectively tire us out. Playing with Haaland will lead to teething issues for them early on.

We can't afford to give away silly points like we did early last season.

Agree with kash here, I thought we were able to dominate midfield, which with the quality we possess in that area of the park makes us a very good match for them.

I personally wouldn't necessarily start Nunez against City in games and go Firmino as he adds to that.

They do it differently but they play less matches so less match sharpness. Unless theyre playing against eachother behind closed doors at high intensity.

Jurgens been quite open about changing our game for Nunez. Obviously not read much about Pep but has he done similar with Haaland?
