Haha true. He's super powerful and has a great engine but he's not exactly a gifted passer of the ball from what I've seen.

He's more ready made than Lavia is and as Kash said if you look at his time at Lens there's definitely some good underlying stats there.

Obviously not the perfect solution but think he's probably the best we can do at this point.

Miguel Delaney saying Doucoure is being looked at, price apparently under £50mn which feels... to good to be true.

Unclear if that's a made-up figure or if there is a clause in his contract

MD is pretty reliable usually. And by that I mean not a total BS artist. Whether we actually decide to pull the trigger and bid, that's another question.

I have zero opinion of him tbh. Palace fans seems to really rate him though.

I was never that keen on Lavia. Hugely overrated. Someone so young when we have Steffan would have meant we still lacked someone with experience.

Caicedo on the other hand I really wanted but that is history.

What I am saying is that it might end up being a blessing in disguise if we get a more experienced DM and then have our first and 2nd choice midfielders do what they were bought into.

Doucouré has made it clear his preference is to stay in London and join Chelsea [@_pauljoyce]

He was perfect for us but the injury has put us off

I remember when we nearly signed Nabil Fekir, was just curious to look at his injury history at Betis.

Missed 3 games in 19/20, 4 games in 20/21, none in 21/22 but a whopping 29 games across three injuries in 22/23.

May have been worth a gamble after all as the bulk of games missed was a cruciate ligament rupture.

Not overly bothered about that, just want someone who can help stop teams walking through us at will.

Supposedly part of the reason we pulled out of the Fekir bid was because his agent started saying signing his brother had to be part of the deal.

Got no idea if it's true but his brother did follow him to Betis a couple of years after he signed

With Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Thiago, Elliot etc ahead of a CDM, not sure we need a CDM to be anything other than a destroyer.

Nah we need someone who can actually play. We're at our weakest when caught in transition imo.

If you look at Dacoure stats in France before he joined Palace he was more progressive so he can play. At Palace he was used as a sole DM under negative managers.
