Guess I'm just over the obscene money these guys get these days. Seeing it more and more with players across all clubs running their contracts down so they get absurd signing on bonuses.

Suppose you can't really blame the players if clubs are willing to give them the money but does stick in the craw seeing players already earning £5-10m a year rejecting contracts so they can get £20/30/40m signing on bonuses.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But if we were in the situation we'd do the same!

£40m signing on and then £10m for 5 years, in some cases tax free = £90m.

Would people accept both Nunez and Diaz going if it meant we got Isak? How about Nunez, Diaz and Elliott all going but Isak coming in?

Trying to work out at which point our squad becomes weaker, the balance of getting in a world class player in vs overall squad depth. At the moment we have a lot of players who play on the left and none who can do the job at centre forward.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think thats to much to lose tbh.

Diaz was quality last season and Elliott has the quality but needs the chance to show it and is a fantastic addition off the bench. i said yesterday Elliott probably needs to go and we would get great money for him. Darwin just needs to move on.

Would anyone be happy with a move for Mateta from palace?

Currently only has 1 year left on his deal there.

If Isak comes in I'd rather lose Jota than Diaz. Salah, Diaz and Gakpo are the untouchable attackers in my book.

Nunez and Jota can go in exchange for Isak.

posted 2 days, 12 hours ago

I think if the right offers come in all of Nunez, Jota and Diaz could be sold

I wouldn't go for Mateta myself but if Edwards and his crew were to identify him as what we need then I wouldn't stand in the way.

Id have no issue with this. The squad might be smaller numbers wise but it would not become weaker. Of them 3, it became clear the only 1 the manager trusts out of them is diaz. Elliott didnt kick a ball all season and nunez couldnt get a look in past feb.

Theres no point in us having 2 guys who the manager doesnt trust to play, regardless of what we might think of them.

Wirtz gakpo isak jota and salah, with frimpong able to cover for salah if required is still better options than anyone else in the league. Ive not included chiesa as Id expect him to leave too. Hes another that doesnt play at all so why have him.

Id rather a smaller squad of say 20 guys that slot has full faith in than a squad of 25 which has players he has no intention of using.

A bit light IMO. You'd really need Jota to stay fit for this to work IMO, and we can't rely on Jota to stay fit. I'd rather have Diaz in there over Jota because of availability.

A lot of people on here are not going to like what I am about to say, but for me, it is obvious Konate's head has been turned.

Nobody is bigger than LFC. Look at all us on here, we would give up our right arm to be where he is, he is literally living our dreams.

If he thinks he deserves more than what the club is prepared to offer, then he got to go. Plain and simple. We flog him off to the highest bidder, if he wants to wait until his contract runs out, again that's fine, but we then need to try and sign somebody like Marc Guéhi and Konate then becomes a very good substitute for the next 12 months. Simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would rather we keep our best players regardless. He will not down tool next season as he needs to play to stay in the French side.

Yeah so would I of course. My reply was more to do with losing 3 guys for 1. Id of course rather we kept diaz than jota if that was an option.

Tbf if I was Konate, who is from Paris, I’d be looking at moving to PSG on a free and making about £50m in the process.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair point on the PSG link but just don't get why anyone would want to leave us right now.

Just won the league, tied down our biggest stars for another 2 years, making big moves in the transfer market, and we'll be competitive across all comps for the foreseeable pending some kind of implosion.

Mad to me that any starting XI player would want to leave this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's PSG. Not like he's off to Saudi.

PSG are on our level so I fully understand it.

He won't down tools, he doesn't need to. He will probably have an immense year looking for the biggest contract he can get when he moves on.

I played 3 full seasons at Liverpool but initially joined on loan for 3 months.
