When it comes to wingers Januzaj is not so quick.
Yes Neo, you are biased.
Put it another way, they are both really, really good, just slightly different in how they do it.
I want to say that I am a United fan.
I think that today, if I had to have one in my team I would have Sterling, he has the pace and has done more this season, possibly due to the fact he played in a better team. However, if I was looking into the future, I would rather have Januzaj in my team. I think Sterling is a bit one-dimensional and that Januzaj has the creativity as well as the skill to make something happen, he has a better footballing brain for me. Having said that, both players have a bright future in front of them.
Trebs
I don't see how Sterling is one dimensional. Sterling does what Januzaj does plus a little more. He dribbles past players just as much if not more, plays some fantastic passes (against Swansea to Sturridge? What a pass?), is quicker, scores more, assists more, seems better at nearly everything.
http://eplindex.com/49572/sterling-vs-januzaj-future-stars-stats-comparison.html
What attributes make you feel that you would prefer Januzaj for the long term? Why would you have him over Sterling?
Sterling relies too much on his pace, and doesn't have the right footballing brain. He might prove me wrong and develop mentally. I think it would be easier to shut him out of a game by negating his pace than it would for Januzaj.
With Sturridge and Suarez both being on fire last season, and United struggling for form, it makes it difficult to compare the goals and assists stats, he had better attacking players around him. The main thing I prefer with Januzaj is mentality rather than a specific technical attribute.
But I want to make it clear I think both will be big players.
On this debate, I'd throw another name into the ring... Walcott.
Never rated him as exceptional. Good player, of course, and important to Arsenal because of their personnel.
But I just have this nagging doubt about him on the ball.
Maybe it's utter rubbish, but we think what we think!
Trebs is talking utter balls.

Fair enough. I disagree that he relies too much on his pace. Admittedly he uses it to devastating effect but he still has a football brain Similar to Januzaj's. The pace is some sort of a bonus IMO. Sterling leads Januzaj even defensively I believe, with more interceptions, ball retrievals, general tracking back etc
Despite being 2 months older than Januzaj, Sterling was able to get himself first team football a whole year before Januzaj could.

Sterling relies too much on his pace......
Nonsense! He is excellent at shielding the ball - not just for his size - his touch and close ball control are really good, he tracks back and tackles really well, can see (and make) great passes.
He is also very quick.

Despite? Surely being older gives him a better chance?
Lets be honest here - when Sterling broke into the LFC team he had less competition ahead of him than Adnan did.
Righteous, if you want to disagree with me that's fine, but have a proper reasoning.
Maybe I am being biased as a United fan, but I have made it clear that today I Sterling as a better player, but in the long term I would prefer Januzaj. I know he can pass a ball and control it, I've seen him all season.
How much do you want for Januzaj?
We'll take him
Then we can see who is better getting the same service

I completely disagree with you as Sterling best attribute is his footballing brain. He knows when to give, when to hold, when to dribble and when to pass which is why he can play so many positions. In fact you're so far wide of the mark I'm struggling to see where you gleaned your opinion from.
If he did not have those attributes he'd be Valencia.
All I see is United fans saying 'Sterling is better but for the long term I would take Januzaj'. I'll leave it at that though I feel I haven't seen any valid reasons for that opinion at all. Each to his own I guess.

It is based on watching them play football.
Adnan has been just as impressive as Sterling was in his breakthrough season.
Winston
Believe me mate. Walcott has improved the mental aspect of his game tremendously.
He can actually look up and pick a pass out nowadays.
That coupled with his pace and movement along with his intelligence. He'd be a valuable asset to any team. Not just Arsenal.
He shouldn't be mentioned on this thread as he's level above both players really.
DubbedinEnglish (U19529)
Fair dos - you will know more than me, as I can't even remember the last time I watched him live.
Agreed he's on a level above these two... just mentioned him as a player that divides opinion - and the conversations we were having 3/4 years ago might be similar to the one we're having with Sterling now.
Not from the injury room he isn't. Another young talent destroyed by Wenger.
Walcott is 25 so he should be on a level above Sterling & Adnan. That said, has he really been better than Sterling in the last 12 months?
I agree that Walcott have developed his game in the last year or two, but I'd still take either of the youngsters over him, as I believe that both will develop to be better than him.
Winston
You're right. Sterling does remind me of him. He is quite a bit better than Walcott was at that age as well. Not that matters. Or means anything.
I don't Walcott divides opinion any more. Everyone knows he's a very good player. An extremely dangerous player.
Walcott is currently better than both
But I'd doubt you'd get either to swap because the gap is pretty narrow, Walcott has injury problems and the other two have the potential to get much better whereas I think Walcott has peaked
DubbedinEnglish (U19529)
I'm still not a massive Walcott fan.
Decent player, but wouldn't want him at United.
I'd love Theo at Liverpool. His shot selection is vastly improved and that's added the goals - this for me, alongside composure, are the main improvements in his game.
Nice lad, no trouble and still got 7 years in him.
I'd take Walcott in a heart beat. Great and pacy winger even though he sees himself as a striker.
