It is silly money but let's stop moaning and look at the positives.
He's already an established player with 2 full seasons in the PL at 18. He has the potential to be one of the best full backs in the world for the next decade, I honestly believe that. He's solid at the back but also happy to move further forward, he really will help stabilitise our defence.
Not every transfer is going to be perfect, put it this way, I'd rather spend an extra £10m odd on Shaw than spending £10m all together on a player like Zaha.

It doesn't matter what times we live in. The record fee will obviously rise but the type of player they're buying for it shouldn't.

I can understand people thinking we have paid too much or that there are one or two better options out there. I can't understand the fact that a number of fans appear incensed / in despair about the transfer. No one disputes we need to address the Evra succession ASAP. We have signed a young, already experienced left back who was elected to the team of the season. Perhaps we paid too much. Perhaps it's a risk. But it's not the end of the world as we know it. People are behaving as though Moyes has been given a contract extension. I dread to imagine the anguish they will feel if he turns out world class.
I don't get all this negativity. if the club and LVG didn't think he was worth the investment, he wouldn't be signed. Nobody on this board had a good thing to say about Evra last season, yet now that we address the issue with the best young full back in England, people just moan. Get over it, we could be doing worse. Just think back to last summer if you need any proof of that.
