Manziel - Destined for Failure?

I don't think comparison to RG3 is fair, he has a brand admittedly but I don't think it has been achieved with too much self PR.

He is active on social media platforms I grant you that, but it is always videos of him training and improving. Before the knee injury he was a rookie on fire.

There was a problem when Shanahan dropped him for his own safety (little too late) and RG3 did not like this, but this is down to his own determination.

Johnny Football (stupid name) - believes his own hype and has an air of arrogance that really isn't endearing, He probably believes that he is Tom Brady.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, I can certainly see a football player in RG3, a potentially great one at that, he just doesn't strike me as focused on the football and the football alone. Maybe that's just how I'd prefer to see these younger guys, and in fairness maybe that would be too much to expect of 22 years olds with millions of dollars. Certainly Manziel is in a different league in self promotion though.

I think he is focused, but you are right in the sense he isn't focused on football alone - however unlike Manziel who is focused on everything but Football - just see his little recent Vegas escapade.

That being said I think the US media are incredibly tough on him already - Browns have a big job in handling his career.

Oh man!! Josh Gordon!? What are you doing Lad?!

He could've made Manziel a superstar from the get go... That's if he starts.

There are certain players that dont deserve what they get... then there are players that take the pi55 out of things they dont deserve to have...

josh gordon... you sign a multi million dollar contract... youre 2 seasons away from being paid top 10 wide receiver money, either with the browns or through free agency... all you need to do, is not smoke (or snort) anything, for 6 years/8 if you want a bit longer payday.
then you may smoke or snort whatever you want. Just wait!

Could go either way as stonfacd said. I dont think the Browns is the best destination for him. He certainly has ability but he has a very unusual style and is not physically tooled to be durable in the NFL. He could have a short career due to his build and his attiitude. One things for sure at QB he will not succeed if he doent cut out the boozing and womanising antics.

I was so worried texans would draft him, not at all surprised he went lower, he seems too interested at the moment in getting "Jonny Football" all over TMZ

Well I've give him that, he looked sharp the other night. Needs to stop sliding head first though. Definite potential.
