Oh dear Barca... !

There is no way we will receive the full value in one go, that just doesn't happen and with the price involved it will make it even more complicated.

To be honest I'd be happy if we could just convince Sanchez to sign for us and then whatever cash on top of that was agreed they could pay us over a few years.

Spread fees have no bearing on FFP as are recorded in the club accounts (outstanding liabilities) - Barca still owe Arsenal 14m for Song and Cesc!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You would think that as soon as a player is then sold to another club the remaining fees would have to be paid in full.

Barca seem to be top dogs at getting value for money and the best deals, hate the club but have to resect their negotiating team

Ronaldo

United to Madrid, £80m upfront!

So it does happen and in big deals to!

Barca seem to have a way of just doing whatever they please. I wouldn't be surprised if it was paid in instalments, and you thank them for doing it.

All clubs should have a guy like Levy.

Did they really get 80 million up front?

More often than not clubs pay transfer fees in installments which is why negotiations can sometimes take so long.

posted on 8/7/14

Yeah, like anybody has a spare £75m in their bank to pay for a player up front.

I don't think anybody works this was anymore, Chelsea used to but I think FFP dictates otherwise.

The sad thing about the CR7 fee is that United saw very little of it, as was nicely tucked away by the Glazers in Nevada. Probably used to pay off debt on a shopping mall.

Yet we still went on to win 2 out of the next 4 PL titles on offer even without Ronnie.

But Ronaldo didn't have a release clause that could be met so United had unbelievable power in that negotiation and Madrid had the Spanish govt backing the fees which it is no longer on a position to do.

You say paying in instalments is not meeting the clause? If you nip down to Argos and get an Argos card to pay off a new shiny TV over 12 months, would you not say you've still paid full price for the TV and still take home on day 1?
Basic example but same principle

We should have got a lot more than £80m for Ronnie in hindsight.

Doesn't help when the president of FIFA compares him to a slave.

Depends on the detail of the 'clause' I understand that for security some contracts stipulate that fee has to be in full. Gives the owning club a degree of protection.

Cool KLS hopefully we get something similar but hard to see it happening.

We need a top quality replacement to come in and take the number 7 jersey, just like when Suarez came in when Torres left we need a new idol in our team when Luis leaves. I hope Brendan does all he can to convince Sanchez to sign for us, I don't believe he's set on Arsenal as the reports all stem from 1 article in the Metro, every other media outlet has said "the suggestion" is that he wants to go to Arsenal, no quotes from him or his agent.

Rodgers may well be able to sell the club to him, if Luis was on 200k a week give Sanchez 150k (Arsenal will not pay anymore then that), give him the number 7 shirt and the crowd will instantly take to him just like we did Suarez.

We have to replace Luis' quality with someone of real class or we are going backwards allot. Yes we won games without him but he was always coming back, we got through them games until he returned.

Signing the players we have has been good but we need a ready made replacement IMO for Luis or we will struggle next season to replicate the form we showed last season.

Difference is that argos has 1000's of tv's and want you take on something even if you can't afford it!

Liverpool only have one Suarez and have placed a really high value on him, as to ward off interested shoppers. Now no matter how defective our Suarez is we really want to keep him, even though we can't watch anything on him for 4 months but if he is going then we want our money upfront!

It's a bit like if you want to buy Ferrari, you can go to a dealer who has one for £200,000 with 200 miles on but he'll give you it on finance. Or you can go to a private seller who's got one for £200,000 with 200 miles on it but wants the money upfront!

Haven't Liverpool already been active in replacing Suarez - or is that young Belgian being loaned back?

In regard to Sanchez wages we (Arsenal) already have a number of players in excess of 100k so should a deal be brokered wages would not be a problem. Hearing that Juve are also interested but the Liverpool Echo reported that he would have signed for you guys if anfield was in London - all speculation I know however!

If barca need to raise 75m then they'll raise it.

They won't have a problem with that at all. They don't want to as it stymies their other spending.

No I don't think anyone we have signed is goign to replace Suarez, none of them are good enough to, we need an established player of real quality ala Sanchez.

I know Arsenal can pay good wages too but we can match or exceed any offer so it may well come down to location, if he's set on London what can you do, I just want Rodgers to make a real go at signing him, if he doesn't want to then so be it, at least we will have tried.

And yeah I'm pretty sure the Belgian lad Origi is going back to Lille on loan.

If anyone can get the full whack, or near full whack out of Barca, it's JW Henry... Who I don't think has been involved in negotiations so far

posted on 8/7/14

what exactly makes liverpool different to every other club barca have dealt with? you wont get it upfront

posted on 8/7/14

I'd love if the club told Barca that pay is all up front or agree a deal involving Sanchez or no transfer.

Luis may be annoyed but he was annoyed last summer and had the season of his career last year, I still want him to stay

--------
1) they want Suarez and have as good as pushed Sanchez out the door, selling Suarez shirts already FFS!

2) FSG we have not bowed in the face of player pressure previously

3) we do not need to sell Suarez

4) Barca will have a transfer ban imposed after this window

5) JW Henry has balls

The answer to this is simple..

Suarez release is 75 million. If they won't pay it in one whack, like anything else you buy in the world on finance, we should charge them annual interest on the outstanding balance. Nice little earner!!

Alternatively, no one here seems to be discussing the fact we may be asking for all the money up front because we want to hold on to him.

When we renegotiated suarez deal last season he will have made damn sure that he had a solid release clause this time in case real/barca came calling.

The reason we kept him last time was due to the wording, Henry's famous smoking tweet was some time after the bid was received, he clearly went public when his lawyers had reviewed the wording of the clause.

His silence speaks volumes, he's a smart man, I would imagine our only chance of retaining luis now is if we can stop barca on a technicality, such as failure to pay up front!
