Are you making a list of films all better than Citizen Kane Vidal? There are several thousand others yet.
Yep. Schindler's List. One of the best.
Similar, that one set in Singapore where the kid gets lost. As is becoming clear, my recollection of film titles is vague. At best.
The drugs one where he gets sent to a Turkish prison.

No, I know if a film doesn't keep me awake it can't be that good. Rupert Murdoch is the barely concealed inspiration for Montgomery Burns and the Simpsons was far better than Citizen Kane, run out of steam over the last 8 series though.
The reason you like Citizen Kane is because some pretentious tozser like Mark Kermode says it's good.

Got that one, RiD - Midnight Express. First 5 mins are the best tbough.
The Killing Fields and Missing (Jack Lemmon)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Do The Right Thing. Gravity. Finding Nemo.
Kermode does like Citizen Kane. He also really rates Brazil which is very ho-hum to me, so I don't know about that. Sometimes you worry about liking things that might be thought to be pretentious but at the end of the day to thine own heart be true I always say.
Citizen Kane. Ulysses. Twin Peaks. Aphex Twin.
Gravity was rubbish as well as anyone who knows the first thing about gravity will tell you. Poor old Isaac would be turning in his grave had someone applied a force. It won the Oscar for best film as well. Some really good films made last year and they give it to a pile of poo.
These are all very good films, but 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' (1938) and The Searchers (1956) are GREAT films
Sometimes you need to suspend belief a little bit Spart. FYI Gravity was not a documentary. Imagination when watching or reading fiction is a good quality to possess.
The Court Jester, Danny Kaye. One of the funniest films ever.
Spart is one of those guys who sits tutting behind you in the cinema saying "that couldn't really happen" and then explaining why in enormous detail to the bored-looking person sat next to him.
Correct Vidal. The cinema is a place where you go to suspend disbelief but if the whole jist of the film is the effects of gravity and they get the physics completely wrong then how can any intelligent person enjoy it. Physics is about concepts, not regurgitating facts like medicine.
Belief must be suspended !
Robin Hood never had sequins on his tunic
You're wrong again Spart. Physics is about getting your hair to go funny on the Van Der Graaf generator.
That's disbelief, of course !
This could get heavy !!
Going to watch the end of the 40 Year Old Virgin
Wrong, it's about making up silly names for sub atomic particles. None of this namby pamby greek and latin stuff like the medics.
How does gravity work, as a matter of interest Spart?
Does it actually exist? Einstein thought it didn't. It is supposedly one of the four forces which hold the universe together. Whatever it is, it is very weak as weaklings like ourselves can overcome the earth's gravity.
"Whatever it is, it is very weak as weaklings like ourselves can overcome the earth's gravity."
How lucky we are to have a physics expert like yourself enlighten us in this way. I must wake my sleeping children to inform them of this wisdom. How many years of study has it taken to achieve this knowledge?
I might also add, that if you have no idea what it is, or even if it exists at all, then it is a bit rich for you to criticise that great film "Gravity".
Google it Vidal, it will take a few seconds. If we consider gravity to be the opposite of energy which is tearing the universe apart then we get into problems as it would be destroying entropy and that can't be done. In short I aint a phycisist but I can recognise when something contravenes the laws of physics. Now wake your kids up.
