When one of Rooney and RVP is unavailable, being wedded to a system designed to utilize both of them becomes a disadvantage.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Why does it?
We have other forwards; Hernandez, Welbeck and Wilson etc. When one of Rooney/RVP doesn't play, we can replace them with one of them.
Cuadrado ,with all intents and purposes, sounds a far more gettable signing.
Exactly stretford. Some really seem to be struggling with the idea we won't be using wingers this season.
We need pace.
As long as the club can afford it I'd take Di Maria. He's the best winger in the world.
We have pace in rafael young Valencia welbeck
Cuadrado ,with all intents and purposes, sounds a far more gettable signing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't seen that much of him other than a few moments of his from Serie A and his world cup displays.......But apparently he's top drawer and can play a number of positions, including wing back.
Could be our answer at rwb because I have little faith in players currently at the club doing that role well enough. Rafael is sound enough defensively but his final ball and crossing is just not good enough quite frankly.

Young is not electric.
Valencia has lost a lost of his pace and doesn't even use the pace he has
Rafael again is fast but isn't electric.
Welbeck is fast over long distances due to his stride, but as a striker he has 20 yards to work with if that.
Cuardado for me does not offer much more than rafael at RWB. At £30m I don't think it makes sense.
De maria, is not that good as a winger apparently, hes only got loads of goals and assists since he was played centrally (see his profile on who scored)

He certainly offers more going forward because Rafael offers very little in that regard.
Di Maria did flatter to deceive in his early start to his Madrid career but towards the second half of the 2013 campaign and especially last season he has certainly come of age.Though you could argue that his best form has been when he's been used centrally.

So why do you think an attacking winger is gonna be the solution at right wing back?
And as for the top drawer to be guy is 26 and has had one very good, not great season.
-----Carrick/new cm --Herrera

----Di Maria-------RVP--------Rooney-----
Would be best for players like Shaw too I think. Just need a cb and cm too, this is hypothetical though as I can't see us getting Di Maria. I doubt there will be a price we are willing to pay that PSG aren't.
55 million. Crazy!!
Another 10 million may get you both Hummels sand Reus.....

Because it's that simple.
If it was we'd have Reus and Hummels already. Money is not a problem for United.
sLM - Why haven't we got di Maria already then?

Prob because PSG were front runners. Also £55m for 1 world class player is very different to £65m for 2.
Would be an excellent signing and would fit in perfectly in the Premier League. I just don't see you spending that much on him.
If we wanted di Maria and money was no problem for United I don't see why we would let to the front of the queue. Surely we would be more appealing to the player?
I think it's more a case of we aren't in for him and we certainly won't go to £55m for anyone

Probably offers more than Shaw, and we were quite happy to pay silly fees for him.
What evidence is there to suggest curdrado would be a better wing back than rafa?
We don't even no if he can defend.
He's an attacking winger.
People seriously what are you basing all these evaluations on him from? Thin air it appears,
So you think a very right sided attacker would be a better LB / LWB than shaw??

No, I was pointing out that we were happy to spend a lot on a player who is supremely overrated, and someone who is not really ideal for the LWB role. His best attributes are defensive, his offensive game is nothing great at all.
They say money isn't a problem for United but why do we seem like a club who's filthy rich but stingey in spending?
OMG!! I just realised a comparision - Mr Burns from the Simpsons!
