Arsenal were very lucky on a number of occassions during their unbeaten season, getting numerous draws that could have gone either way and having some lucky decisions ( pires dive being one of them).
for me any team who achieve a higher points total than Arsenal did that year can lay claim to having a better season.
after all, you can go a full season unbeaten and still be relegated.

Wouldn't really say they were lucky in those games. The opponents had their moments but overall Chelsea were the better team and when under pressure had the ability to keep the opponents at bay.
Luck didn't really play a part, Chelsea won/drew these games through great organisation and team work.

Palace would have beaten them had it not been for the ref (imo).

Or the stupidity of Delaney.
Yes, but then Lallana could also win WPOTY in 2015...

But surely a bit of luck here and there is usually needed to succeed? Chelsea will most likely win the league because they are the best team in England right now, to go unbeaten will also possibly need a bit of luck on the way too. As Dunc said, Arsenal rode their luck at times to achieve their invincible achievement so why can't Chelsea.
I think Berba makes a good point about not just the invincible record but the way they played that sets them apart.
Robb,
No, I don't think they will go unbeaten.

I thought Chelsea were very fortunate to get all the points against Palace.
This happens pretty much every season. The league leaders go a handful of games unbeaten and everyone talks of the new Invincibles - Not worth mentioning until January.
Liverpool will beat Chelsea at anfield. They're good at treating pl games as cl finals

Maybe but we all have good memories of last seasons game at Anfield.
The more games Costa misses, the less likely you'll finish the season unbeaten
IMO it is inconceivable for any title winning side not to enjoy a degree of luck during the season.
Of course Arsenal’s 2003/04 side benefited from luck but no more so than any other team that has won the league.
In regard to the current Chelsea side I believe it is far too early to make any predictions on whether they will go unbeaten or not. Maybe if they remain unbeaten in Jan/Feb but not nine games into the season.

Only an idiot would come up with that kind of conclusion after nine games.
I don't even think they'll win the league.
Their big test is this Saturday, if they get through it unbeaten then anythings possible !!

Course it is after 9 games, but without Costa they do look pretty ordinary and they look capable of dropping points aplenty without him

Many have though (reached that conclusion after nine games).
City will go on a run and it will put them up there.

Jesus, chill out, it's just a question to raise debate, why are you so angry all the time? You're not an idiot for thinking it, it's a valid question as Chelsea are a quarter of the way through and looking very strong.
Will they do it, who knows? Injuries, bad form, suspension, CL, bad luck, poor referring, anything could happen to effect their chances but they have a brilliant manager and great set of players to at least give it a go.

I completely agree that Chelsea are the best team in the league, right now at least.
And I think you need luck at some point to win almost any competition, but the luck to go a whole season unbeaten? A lot of luck in involved, just ask Arsenal fans.
most arsenal fans on here would tell you there is no luck involved and its all skill

Chill out from what?
If you disagree with my comment that only an idiot would conclude that Chelsea would go unbeaten after 9 games, say so. That is what debate is all about.
I have not labled this comment at anyone, because as far as I am aware no one has come to the conclusion Chelsea will go unbeaten.
Of course, so it isn't impossible. I would say them finishing the season with 2 defeats would sound pretty realistic, a bit of luck on those 2 possible defeats which turn them into draws and you have an unbeaten season.
It's possible but unlikely.

It's just this type of constant aggressive tone every single day to anyone who has a different view. You pretty much started bullying Rob yesterday simply because he had a different opinion. It just often turns needlessly a debate in a slagging match.
You're an angry man, we get it, but can't you just cut out the attacks all the time?
