And if we dont make top 4 what do we do?

No, that's not for me or anyone on here to decide. But it will for me be a massive failure. One that had better be rectified next season.

It would be a failure but I would most likely still keep LVG. Even if LVG has a terrible season and there are big problems sacking him will put us back to square one.

We need some sort of stability and hopefully with LVG we can get it soon. Still has plenty to prove though.

I don't think anyone out there wouldn't say that given the circumstances of how rival teams are performing, missing out on top 4 would be very disappointing indeed.

This reminds me of Fergie's last season - we were performing well (like Chelsea) but all the teams around us were struggling to one degree or another.

Never so early in the season, even in all the titles that we won, have I felt that one team is certain to be champions, and that's of course Chelsea - they aren't necessarily doing anything special, but just playing as they should, and it would take an almighty collapse from them, even at this early stage.

We won't finish top 4 unless we buy a Centre back in January. Doesn't even have to be a world class one, a stop gap measure will do.

We just can't rely on Jones, Evans & Smalling. I wouldn't trust them to go and get the paper from my local shop and get it back to me without getting hurt.

We might have to sign a mediocre player or an underwhelming name to get us back into top 4 because I don't see many top centre backs being sold by anyone in January.

I think we'll sign Vlaar which we probably should have done 3 months ago. Not a world beater granted but does the job that we badly need right now.

Uniteds problem imo is just since Fergie left you have obviously lost the fear factor, and you can buy any player you want but i just don't think LVG is the man to install that fear factor, he's old, near retirement, chilled and happy. He hasn't got that same passion he had 20 years ago. Still a great manager but the hunger and passion just isn't there and wouldn't be there

Think United need Simeone/Klopp, or Pep when he leaves Barca which is who i think you'll get

lvg is perfect for now with his experience, stabilise the squad and get rid of the dead wood and set a base for the future

this job is too big right now for a simeone/klopp

LvG stays, yes it would be a failure.
We have no distractions, we should be going flat out week in week out...
And well are DEF issues are at critical now, and until that settles, hang in there... Gonna be a bumpy ride!

i dont think we have a lack of quality at the back, just very injury prone players

our luck may change in regards to injuries, who knows. still, would feel happy with another centre back in jan

United need to just try build something, and keep the regular team as this

De Gea
Rafael-Smalling-Jones-Shaw
Blind-Herrera
Di Maria-Mata-Januzaj
Striker

Falcao, RVP, Rooney are fine for the moment but i still think United need that young hungry striker, all 3 of Falc, RVP and Rooney have had their day, maybe buy Berahinho or start that Wilson guy more

posted on 9/11/14

Need a bit more stronger squad depth as well, 3 behind the striker replacements are pretty crap, only other half decent defender is Rojo, Carrick can't go on forever

posted on 9/11/14

Foundations are there for United anyway, just gotta settle on a 11 and keep it till it clicks

Too big for Simeone or Klopp that's the biggest load of bollôcks I've heard on here for a long time, both of them have proved tactically they can do the job!!!!

the problem with this is that Januzaj is awful at the moment, might as well not be on the pitch. Mata despite his goals doesn't offer enough. goes missing too much.

also, Rojo has been our best centre back this season so i would replace him for jones, something like this

Rafael, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw
Carrick-Blind
Hererra
Di Maria-Falcao-Rooney

simeone has had only one maybe two good seasons, and klopp is having a shocker at dortmund

both are too young to handle the pressure and expectation at united. they are far too big a risk.

not calling them poor managers but their tactics are only as good as the squad available to them. can they rebuild the squads and provide continuity and stability like managers such as mourinho, fergie, ancelotti, lvg? remains to be seen.

lvg is perfect for now to help guide this club through a difficult period, id rather have someone vastly experienced at the helm because our squad is in a dire situation

we can look at the klopps and simeone's of this world once we are out of fergies shadow

posted on 9/11/14

Meh wouldn't judge Klopp too much on bundesliga form this year, he just can't be asked and the whole club is pretty much just protesting at Bayern, they win when they want

Ok both fairly young in manager terms, but I think it's unfair to think they ain't up to the job, yeah experience of managing a team like Utd especially after Moyes is probably a must in some people's eyes, but either of those two could be a big surprise if they had the chance

posted on 9/11/14

the problem i think with klopp/simeone is that they wouldnt hit the ground running and would need time to build their teams

granted LVG hasn't had a great start but he looks like he knows what he's doing and can deliver sooner.

his signings have been good, some say we didnt sign defenders, well rojo, shaw and blind prove other wise.

his team selection and tactics have been mostly good, some will argue herrera should be playing but fellaini has justifiably kept him our with his form

formation etc have been forced due to the personal we have available with each game.

if we can get over the defensive injuries we will finish top 4 imo, no problem

Fair analogy fella

Let's hope LVG gets us sorted
