Don't see how you can accurately compare 2 players from different era's

Being a local lad certainly benefits gerrard in these debates

Subs - I agree that's why I asked for opinions

Kenny and Souness played for Liverpool when the game was much tougher than the modern era and both won many more honours for the club

Kenny of course has a special affection for Pool fans due his role at Hillsborough up to the present day in the cause of JFT96

DC - Gerrard played out his entire professional career at Liverpool - loyalty to be commended in the modern game

Mark - agreed - I thought it was a very odd comment for Rush to make - and it was unprompted ?

Gerrard is like our McStay in that he's credited with carrying a team of mediocrity....Or so the scousers would have you believe.

Mediocrity like Alonso and Mascherano, Agger, Hyypia and Hamaan

All the more remarkable

I must be in the total minority that always preferred Lampard over Gerrard, never mind Dalglish! But Liverpool fans are obviously more qualified to judge!

Hector - The Midfield Maestro carried a team of mediocrity

Marcelino - yes I think you are in a majority of 1 - I don't like Lampard - although would admit he is not a bad player

You calling JC mediocre? He'll be around to your door, top off, six-pack twitching..

No one seems to like Lampard and his contribution throughout his career has been nothing short of phenomenal. I think the fact that Gerrard staying at one club creates more appreciation for him than is the case with Lampard, but in terms of watching the two players I still prefer Lampard.

Hector

Do you have the ETA will need to send someone out for messages

Marcelino - I may be somewhat blind sided on this as I don't care for Chelsea one bit - I hold their owner absolutely culpable for the beginning of the crazy spending in the EPL - wonder why so many fans of a certain club in Scotland have an affinity with them

For me Gerrard has been one of the outstanding players of the last 2 decades

Dalglish was the best player I've seen wear the red shirt.

Souness was the best midfielder.

Gerrard is in my top 5. Along with Barnes, Hansen and Rush.

Lampard is also one of the greatest midfielders the Premier League has ever seen. I don't think you'll find many who disagree with that.

Lampard is the better player, the better person - despite being a big Tory.

He is also considerably prettier.

Both are towering giants.

Couldn't put a rizla between them IMO.

Wouldn't want either as a manager tho.
