Vlaar? No thanks. A 30year old who's still maying for villa? Well overrated

I'd take De Jong at Arsenal.

Would FSG spend 8-12m on a 30 year old (NdJ)?

I wouldn't mind NdJ though, but I don't FSG would pay that much.

Would love it if de Jong came. Proven in the premier league, and a proper DM. Football wise might not bring so much to the team, but he does his job, does his job well, and is just what this leaky defense needs in front of them to help them out.

Vlaar, after seeing him play for Holland in Brasil (imo one of the top defenders in the WC), wouldn't mind trying a sneaky 5m. Manfrombelmonty, I would prefer a player of the calibre Kompany / Varane also, but sadly currently we will not be able to attract them. And you cannot deny Vlaar - in the form of his last few years - will be better than what we currently have as CB.

I'd take De Jong but certainly not Vlaar. He's no better than what we have.

Vlaar is no improvement on Skrtel so why even bother talking about him.

We need a keeper before we need new centre halves.

I wouldn't mind De Jong but only for about £5m.

We need a keeper and a good one at that and taking a €2m - €3m gamble isn't void enough, same as the striker problem. Borini and Balotelli need to be moved on for what ever we can get and spending another £3m to bring in Origi early just isn't what we need.

I agree KLS. We don't need another stop gap, hope for the best type. Need to bit bullet and go for Becovic.

Jose has said Cech won't leave in Jan and Lloris is going to be very expensive.

Becovic contract expires summer 2016. 10m for someone with 18 months left might do it.

WHY HAVE WE NOT SIGNED A STRIKER YET???

The whole spine of the team needed addressed when Rodgers took over and he has failed to address it with poor signings

He has also signed the wrong people for systems he has tried to play

We want him in the summer but are happy to let him go to inter on loan???? Why not take him on loan with a view to perm switch in the summer!

In the Summer transfer window, I suggested we get Vlaar.

Most of the responses were along the lines of

"you only want him because he had a good World Cup"

Actually, it made perfect sense. He has a good 5 years left in him, he's cheap, he has Prem experience.

Instead, we opted for Lovren for 4-5 times the price and he's arguably been our worst signing.

Vlaar will go to United

Vlaar isn't good enough and certainly United will be looking for better than him.

We need to stop spending on defenders and start working on the one's we have. You can't just keep throwing money at a problem.
