I saw him on BT Sport a few weeks ago. I hope it was just a flying visit and not anything more permanent

BT will use ITV pundits for their CL coverage I am guessing.

I think the problem with having pundits who are not long out of the game and still have close links with former clubs or have friends either playing, coaching or managing is that they won't speak their mind and criticise properly.

As good as Carragher and Neville are I think they're both guilty of this. You often hear Carragher criticise a Liverpool performance but how many times will he hammer a player or criticise Rodgers?

Neville has massively criticized LvG at times this season.

I've been very disappointed with Henry on Sky. I don't think he offers anything constructive to the analysis.

Maybe I like pundits who say it how it is. Roy Keane for me is always worth watching.

I used to like Carra but then he showed his true colours when the Gerrard slip occurred. He didn't have a go at Gerrard as much but had a go at Sakho for passing to him and Mignolet for not doing a better job in try to save the Ba goal.

I like Merson because he's honest and says what he thinks. His criticism of Wenger last weekend was hilarious

Tissier is ok. Nicholas and Thompson are a bit annoying

Henry – Cool, calm, collected, suave. Ex-Arsenal, but he’s as annoyingly excellent as a pundit as he was as a player.

Le Tissier is OK, the rest are awful, particularly Thomson and Merson

As the above list demonstrates there are now so many pundits, all striving to get their head above the parapet.

Paul Scholes a recent addition; while he was arguably the greatest English midfielder of his generation, has made some ludicrous observations, obviously to ensure his voice is heard.

On a side note it beggars belief that Robbie Savage is paid money to talk about football…

I'm the opposite. Tissier offers zero. He's your tow the line pundit who won't say anything of real worth.

Merson talks about football like a 12 year old would.

For me, Thommo and Charlie Nicholas are the pillars of that panel. Not afraid to criticise players and teams and they both know the game well.
