Portions of vegetables and fruit combined.
5 a day is generally inadequate because of modern farming practices and because produce has been out the ground a while by the time we eat it. Also because people tend to boil or roast vegetables, which is damning to nutritional value.

Sadly yes. It's the cooking process. The healthiest way to eat cooked vegetables is by steaming them.
However, if you are eating non organic then I would say that it might be healthier to boil them.
Like you say, raw is the way to go. Roast vegetables are in the main a pleasure rather than highly nutritious.
That's not always the case, the stock example is that cooking tomatoes releases a beneficial chemical called lypocene which is inaccessible in raw tomatoes. But generally raw > cooked.

Ah, well I would say that you want to shift fat, and shifting fat is as much about controlling your hormones as it is about counting calories. Eating healthy foods such as wholegrains, lean proteins with large servings of vegetables will do wonders for controlling your hormones. As will drinking less caffeine if you are a coffee hound. As will sleeping at least 7 hours a night. As will regular exercise.
It's awesome you eat organic and grow your own though. We grow tomatoes, apples and microgreens, and some other stuff in tiny quantities.
Fact of the day. Roast parsnips have the same glycemic index rating as table sugar

I wouldn't avoid any vegetables. I would just consider roasting it to remove it from the 'five a day' (which should be seven anyway)
Maybe potatoes in large quantities? Nah, there's no evil vegetables. Just evil cooking processes.

Yep we do herbs also. And some nice little peppers. Quite fiery as well.

Another method of controlling your hormones.
We grow our tomatoes out of bags of fertilizer on the roof of our extension. Some years we get enormous yields.

How the fück has a gym thread become dominated in gardening?
Nutritional worth of supermarket fruit and vegetables compared to growing your own.
I think it's pretty cool producing your own food. Maybe not cool in a 10 pints then bang a stranger kind of way, but nonetheless.
Obviously I know the link TCW. I just find it funny.
I didn't think it was that much of a tangent.
