If its only for fans living overseas then fans in Norn Irn could sign up but fans in Scotland and Wales cant!

Doesn't seem very fair

Eyup chaps....im thinking of buying a road bike to save whats left of my knees
I run with 2 knee supports and have them that tight i can barely bend my knees, but they do help a lot
Thing is i dont know what size frame to get as they are allus shown in cm...im 6ft 1 so i guess it will be one of the largest frames that are suitable?

Not buying new and will go the ebay route and try second hand first and see how i go

I bought a bicycle last year Waltz, I can't remember the size of the frame. So, I'd be guessing what it is, I don't even know how they measure it. Just go to a bike shop and ask what would be suitable for you.

I'm reading a very useful book called Build Your Running Body which explains a lot. Knee injuries are not caused by running per se but by the fact we train muscles and not our connective tissue such as ligaments, tendons, fascia etc. They tend to be weaker than they need to be for the stress put on them. Walking actually is worse on your knees as there are more steps per distance and more impact on the body.

I am also buying a road bike and what you need is your inside leg measurement in cm and take about 20 cm off that (depending on whether aggressive race bike or more relaxed bike) and that's the size of frame to go for. However LV is right that a bike shop would be worth the trip as all bikes are designed slightly different and so not all the same size for you.

I'm 5ft 9 and all my road bikes have either been 53cm or 54cm frames. Always been perfect for me.

Waltz you'd need a 58 - 60cm frame. I'd personally go for the 58cm, then you can always change ride height etc.

As for your knees, if you're gonna be wearing cycling shoes with cleats, make sure that they are set at the right (natural angle) angle that you ride, otherwise you'll be in agony with your knees.

Do you mean add 20cm to your inside leg measurement mb?

I read it as minus 20cm.

Anyone watching the Copa America when it kicks off on Thursday?

Think I've got imperial and metric mixed up then.

I haven't lv, I watched the women's football the other night, and remembered how garbage it was. On the plus side, some of the French women and the ref were fit!

I meant minus 20cm hydy, from what I have been told anyway. Ive more been into mountain bike riding so found the sizing a little complicated as there you are imperial. I am finding myself riding more and more on the road including some commuting and got a bit of cash coming in so going to treat myself to a road bike. I rode my brother in laws bike and couldn't believe the difference between my 29er mtb with its 2.5" tyres and nice carbon road bike with 25mm tyres!!! My bike is such a tank although it can take a battering!

I can see me being one of those weekend warrior MAMIL types as I am getting far too into fitness at the moment and once I get myself marathon ready I want to consider triathlons. I also fancy doing the P4P next year as does look a good laugh and a good cause.

Waltz, if you are looking on the cheap there is a local guy near me who has set up a bike shop and everyone says is a top bloke and he has just refurbished a Trek Alpha 1.5 58cm which I think they are selling for £350.

Other than that Decathlon seems to get rave reviews for its road bikes and worth a look. Personally not a fan of ebay as deals for me have never turned out as good as I thought and I could have got the same elsewhere for less or a little bit more new.

Yes mb I got mixed up. I have a 31inch inside leg not a 31cm

I've got my last 3 Road bikes from a place called merlin cycles In Preston. They always have great deals.

I see the newspaper style programme has been recycled ♻.

Back to a proper one next season, due to complaints.
