Anything Tarantino apart from Pulp Fiction is overrated boring crap that lasts an eternity.

Yup. Filled with pointless dialog people mistake a clever when it’s just filler. He’s done some decent stuff but can’t say I ever look forward to one of his movies. I Like the end of once upon… but a lot of the rest was quite dull

That's because you have no sense of character, depth or culture generally.

Tarantino and depth .. 🤣🤣

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and The Hateful Eight are probably among the most idea-heavy and thematic movies that have come out of American cinema in the 21st century.

The Hateful Eight is one of the more interesting depictions and studies of American racism I have seen, while Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is about regret, counter-culture, creativity vs commerce, the crippling weight of individual expectations set in this really engrossing 60s mileiu.

Yes, parklife! Before you try that one on me. What I am saying is true.

Also Django Unchained is also deeply disturbing - nothing about Stephen-Calvin Candie relationship is shallow tbh. It is one of the most provocative things you can put in a movie.

Just seen the suicide squad at cinema and thought it was very average. It has some great reviews, so was expecting a lot more, but I suppose those reviews are comparing it to the first film which was trash.

Only decent thing was Idris Elba 🤷🏻‍♀️

This person needs a slap.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably true
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I need a slap too tbf.

But Suicide Squad is such a blast, way better than Shang-Chi which I inexplicably sat through last week!

So...watched Bond in a converted church in Winchester this pm...
Film is a tad too long but utterly brilliant, very easy to follow, wasn't mad for the female 007, but adored Lea Seydoux again
Nice nods to older films a la Spectre. Thought Malik was lightweight as a baddie

Top Bond though...might turn out to be in my top three

Haven’t heard about that one, is it to do with Coppola making apocalypse now? How hard it was, the famous phrase ‘we had too much money and too much equipment, little by little we went insane’.

Yeah

I've seen Community (Dan Harmon's show before Rick & Morty) do a parody of it but no the actual documentary

It seems to be MeToo the movie more than it is a medieval epic, so I will wait for the reviews.

So Damon and Affleck can whitewash guilty consciences?

Or reputations, either one

It is more to do with the fact these kinds of movies ain't blockbusters any more but indie dramas.

So the hook is not "Wow, there was a duel in France between two former noblemen played by A-list actors", instead it is "this woman says she was r*ped and here is a multi-perspective tale exploring her testimony, which we can tie to contemporary tales of toxic masculinity etc"

Ok

Last Samurai will do instead

Yeah, for all its syrupy-ness, that movie had a real scale and sense of epic-ness to it. I miss movies like that.

Even though it's proper cheesy, that last cavalry run in Last Samurai is really moving.

might have been preferable to keep the main character French like the historical counterpart

but it paid a nod to the Americans being responsible for opening Japan up in the first place
