Id like Hayles but think England need a Right Handed Batter. Too Many lefties

I'd give Hayles a try. At least he wouldn't "die wondering". Give Hayles license to score while using Cook as the anchor.
around 50 runs to win and 8 wickets remaining.. would take an indian batting collapse to lose from here..
Who was calling for Bell to be dropped then?

Me Cyp. And despite his performance in this match I stand by it. He's just not consistent enough anymore. One decent innings in ten is not good enough at this level.
So the only thing left to worry about is, who's gonna hit the winning run?
I'll say the next guy up after these two. Whoever that is.

2 decent innings in 2 at the moment.

To be fair to bell this will be his 3rd 50 in 6 innings. Hardly terrible.
True Boss but look at his form over the last couple of years and I wonder how he kept his place for this long.
This games done now, least the aussies managed to drag it out to tea day 3.
Anderson being injured levels up the bowling attacks after Harris had to retire i reckon.
Personally I wouldn't call up Hales, protect him for the ODI side and keep it that way. I don't think he is technically good enough to play red ball cricket. There is too much of an obsession of getting attacking players in the side. This is test cricket, for the technically best, not the sluggers. Compton unless there's anyone else.

Anderson will rush back and get injured early at Oval leaving us short.

Give Jimmy an injection for the oval. Then give him the autumn off when we travel to play Pakistan in the UAE. Couldn't give a fack about that series.
