SA will beat us comfortably on their own patch, would have been closer over here. Also agree about Pakistan being better away from home than India.

Also not sure why my comment about not caring so much about how we do in the UAE later this year has annoyed people. Pakistan v England in the middle east or whatever it is doesn't share the same interest to England fans as an Ashes series or home series vs India or SA for example. That's not being arrogant, it's just the way it is.

Afridi, India have a better record in Australia than Pakistan, they won a test in 2007/08 and Pakistan have lost every test they have played this century.

Duncan, you are right. I was pointing to the overall overseas record between them.....The total number and percentage of matches Pakistan , India and Sri Lanka have won overseas (outside the sub continent and UAE) also excluding matches in Zimbabwe.

Pakistan 31 wins from 145 matches at 21.4%

India 22 wins from 177 matches at 12.4%

Sri Lanka 7 wins from 57 matches at 12.3%

Neo, not annoyed mate, I kind of know what you mean, but aside from the ashes, England do need to aim for top spot again in test rankings. To do that, they need to beat teams in all conditions and surfaces - or at leas not lose. The windies tour was embarrassing. Record in sub continent needs improving. Can't see England not taking it seriously. Away from the emotion and hype, that series will more challenging in pure cricketing terms.

You would expect Pakistan to do better because they have better fast bowlers than India.

Afridi, do you have the stats for the last 5 years only?

posted on 2/8/15

Duncan,

Nothing for last 5 years, I think I'm right in thinking pak haven't played much in them three counties other than saffers. Due for tests next year in England and Australia... If we can stay away from controversies and concentrate on the cricket, maybe we can challenge those teams away from home

We need a test championship.. doesn't look like its going to happen.. But would be great to get teams in one country and have them play each other over a coupla months or so..
May not fill the grounds.. but you could fix the prices so there is a chance you can fill the stadiums.

Its a shame they are playing in Bangladesh in the rainy season.. Bangladesh are improving a bit. woulda been nice to see how the tests would have unfolded against SA.

Up for the fourth and crucial test match lads?

Is it weird to other international cricket fans that the pinnacle English teams can achieve is beating Australia?

Is the aussies have got any sence they need to make a few changes.

Rodgers, Warner, Smith, S Marsh, Clarke, M Marsh, Nevil, Johnson, Starc, Siddle, Lyon.

Think Siddle has to play but not 100% sure on who to replace. Hazlewood control has been pretty poor imo. Toss up between him and Starc.

posted on 4/8/15

I hope they go in with Siddle over starc or hazelwood.. I would only have had siddle if Harris was in the team.. Starc and hazelwood are more likely to get wickets than Siddle.

Sky are suggesting that each team will make one change. Wood will come in for Jimmy and Shaun Marsh will replace Voges.

Good morning an hour until the first ball is bowled.. I think both teams will bat..
Excellent forecast for the game.. shouldn't be issues with the weather..
Important games for both teams.. Hopefully England come out on top and win
