The damage is done, the gap between the two will continue to grow for the forseeable future.
MGS V is a more anticipated game than NMS. Probably going to be the last MGS game too
Then theres Uncharted 4, which looks outstanding. And theyre releasing the Nathan Drake collection, all 3 remastered and released for a very very good price.
Sony are getting a lot right atm. Although that holo headset thing from microsoft was incredible. That'll be the future of gaming i believe.
I Just want to point out to Melton, this is not my article
As for No Mans Sky, I have been looking forward to this game for some time and this a a strange one, Sony have certainly tied up some sort of deal with Hello games (remember what I said about sales giving Sony Leverage) there has been talk of a timed PS4 and PC version later but nothing of substance about it coming to xone.
Cards are being played very close to the chest on this one and I don't think anyone knows quite what the plans are for this game.
To add fire to the flame I'm guessing VR will be playing it's part too.
We also have Morpheus to look forward to .
You wouldn't have started it with "I think" though Amiga
I'm looking forward to it, I don't think it will get the same release date though, I think it might be in the new year.
People need to read, I clearly state for a game we know no release date, we know when mgs is out, we know when the worst named game in history is out.
Also there will be lots of mgs, just not "the" mgs, will be a very different beast.
And hololens ain't the future of gaming that's vr, hololens is the future of business though, which overall will earn them more money, its too gimmicky unfortunately and really doesn't add anything to games
Dont all companies try to do? I bet Microsoft are 'trying' this as well as every other company out there with a direct competitor.
I wasnt meaning the Hololens as an individual thing being the future, more VR as a whole, was just that Microsoft had wheeled on out first, to my knowledge anyway.
Fair enough tiddles if you are interested in that type of stuff have a look at morpheus from sony, and oculus will have xbone support
a lot of people are going to feel masively let down by no mans sky
procedurally generated does mean random and infinitely different, th massive universe in the game will begin to look pretty samey after a few days IMO
I think it depends on the player Crouch, we are not all after a quick fix, for me the chance to take my time reaching an end goal is just as appealing.
"a lot of people are going to feel masively let down by no mans sky

Finally someone that gets it.
Similar sort of thing with Shadow of Mordor (which I loved) and the enemy generation - within about 20 minutes could see the formula that was being used.
The key to a great game definitely isn't size alone.
It's going to be very interesting to see how the gameplay works with the size of the universe. It may well be one of those games worth it purely for the achievement but doesn't play out as well. If they get the latter right though, it could be the game of the generation.
No one knows the depth of the procedural generation. People saying it will be a let down are jumping the gun just as much as those who think it will be perfect.
Agree with that Randomer, The game has built up quite a bit of hype and Hello games will be under pressure to deliver, the game has huge potential, whether it can live up to the hype remains to be seen

This is exactly what I was thinking. Random generating is still in its infancy and our brains struggle to cope with the fact that something generating randomly can cause a lot of repeats as shown by the apple random song generator fiasco.
Hopefully im wrong but it just seems too good to be true.
Will the game be fun? I just dont know if flying from planet to planet will be a chore after a while. What is there to actually do?

saying "people will be let down" is different to saying "it will be a let down"
a lot of the people i hear talk about no mans sky seem to think we're going to get some infinite universe with countless different species, civilisations and ways to play
In fact all we're getting is Procedurally Generated Pokemon Snap in Space
Hoop, Procederal generating has been around for years, Sentinel on the Amiga used it, to name one (to good effect), what makes this different is the scope of the Project, the huge universe could be a curse if not done right, but also an enjoyable challenge if the purpose is clear.
Simon knows more about this game than me (at least as far as what your expected to do, all I know is you have to make your way to the centre of the universe, why I have no idea.

Dont you know why yet amiga? *tisk* *tisk*. It has been confirmed that peter molyneux is there.....surely thats all the excuse you need to travel to the centre of the universe.
Also we need to understand how they are using this procederal generation. Remember half this game is about exploration and sharing data, therefore it must mean that some peoples universes will be the same. The lead programmer talks a lot about math, so i believe its more that there could be millions of different universes but so people can play together there will only be a few, and this procederal generation allows more for consistance as he talks that the math doest change allowing the game to build the necessary planets when needed allowing for greater scope as the large game is not kept in memory like other worlds but as a mathimatical string which then grabs stuff from a shared library.
"co-founder Sean Murray stated that a player could reach the center of the galaxy with forty to a hundred hours of gameplay, not including any additional exploration; but he hopes players also find themselves involved in other activities enabled by the open nature of the game, such as managing trade routes or studying the universe's flora and fauna"
Amazing stuff. Always wanted to study flora and fauna.
There is no "playing together" as I understand it Simon?
One of the reasons I think it will be a massive flop. Initially when I heard about it I thought it would be like an MMORPG version of Freelancer (if anyone remembers that)
All you can do, as I understand it - may be wrong, is just share data on what you've discovered i.e. absolutely zero multiplayer functionality
Playing together in the sense of the messages in dark souls - you can see people have been there but you never see the people, but for this to be possible some universes must be the same, not so much for the animals but for the planets certainly
When's the PC release date?
Dunno dude - all we know is prob after the PS4 version, but before the xbox
I would imagine though it will be the same day or pretty close to PS4 version
Don't you be going all Amiga too simon
I'll get it on ps4 anyway, just thought the PC version might be pretty good too.
