Yeah, but you were (at least) 100% behind Stuart Pearce strett, thought he was a fantastic coach who would have Forest promoted in double-quick time on account of his fabulousness as a manager. So I think we'll park your assessment where 666 parks his bike.
I soooo wanted Psycho to succeed; one of my favourite players, but alas he was shown wanting. Good four points from Derby though
What are you going on about Strett? That was a huge shift we put in defensively, the lads are putting the effort in, we've just lost our fluidity in attack. Part of that is we have more of a defensive minded midfield now that's only really played three games together.
To be fair we lost our attacking flair last season, teams know they will be torn apart if they come out and play against us, what was it Dougie said 'we tried to out play Derby', so we have to learn how to breakdown teams that hang deep.
This season we've stopped for the most part getting hit on the counter, which was our major weakness last year so if we can bring some more sophistication into our game when breaking down teams we should be in the mix for the top 6.
Top 6!!!
Make no mistake, if you're not in the top two, having spent the kind of money you have, it will be a huge underachievement.
If you're still languishing on the same points as 'spent no money Forest' by Christmas it will be an embarrassment that Melanie Morris won't live with.
Clemence needs to turn it around and quick.
If Derby were as impatient as yourself strett, we would be sacking our managers every five minutes like Forest has done. Clement is expected to get Derby promoted and he knows this but that doesn't mean we need to be at the top of the table now or even by Christmas. Like most modern coaches he wants his team to get control of games and to retain possession rather than risk losing it. This is OK much of the time but can appear to the casual observer that little is actually happening of any use. I thought the first half was very poor last night but in the second half we played well and against an extremely well-drilled Burnley team who did well defensively last year in the Premiership we moved the ball around nicely to get into the right positions around their box. At that point we rarely looked like scoring though. Often there was hesitation about whether to take a man on, make another pass or cross it when speed of decision was required to cash in on the good build-up work. We lacked that little bit of magic around the box that Hughes or Ince might have provided.
These are things that should be remediable given the quality of players and a work in training. The midfield trinity last night have never played together and Johnson and Butterfield have only just joined the club. You could tell that sometimes the front six were not on the same wavelength but that sort of telepathy only comes with playing plenty of games together, when the right thing to do is instinctive rather than having to think about it.
Martin didn't do much last night, largely because the service to him wasn't great, but Clement made a comment afterwards about him being a "back to goal" striker. Defenders know how he wants the ball playing to him which makes it a bit easier for them to defend. Bent is a poacher but doesn't offer much in build-up and it would have been nice last night if we could have had someone on the bench with something different to offer. I have been surprised we haven't got a loan striker and still think we are one short there.
Is this the same top 2 that you lot got to when you spent the dough Strett?
I think we both know money don't bring happiness. In fact with Derby it usually ends in disaster.
Forest have spent money too Strett so much that you're not allowed to spend anymore. It's not like your team is a humble team of homegrown talent and up and coming brucey bargain lower league shopping, like we used to be.
It's the Nottingham Forest example that is one of the chief reasons why I think top 6 is par for this season that and a new manager, coaching setup, players and a large squad to juggle about. I also think it's quite competitive with 9 of the current top 12 a good shout for promotion.
What does he need to turn around and quick Strett? A team that was in freefall and showing relegation form last 10 games of last season. Think we're turning that around. We're a tough to beat team in touch of the playoffs and I would say showing improvement.
Good interview by Cyrus Christie........http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03356kb all he needs to do now is work on his final ball
Derby have had as many managers as Forest this year, so not sure of the relevance there.
Forest have a settled manager and a settled team, we are spending within limits and winning plaudits for the attitude and style of play. The manager has assembled a team of players he has chosen, using the contacts he's built up, without the influence of the owner.
Derby, on the other hand, have a new manager and a team selected by someone called Chris Evans <citation needed> and the new owner who looks like a Pink Panther villain. Wage disparities, disgruntled ex captain, strange training methods, fitness issues and a crowd booing.
It is a lot for an inexperienced manager (coach as they're now known) to deal with.
It could be Clemance needs help, It may be a thought that an assistant should be bought in, as he seems way out his depth. Paul Jewell or someone of that ilk. Hey maybe Nigel could be persuaded. He was loved by the majority of Derby fans after all.
Are you here all week strett?
Winning plaudits for the attitude and style of play.
