It was better than it has been but a long way from where we want to be. Still three points and something to build on.

I'm pleased because we won and it was an improvement.

But I also think it's telling that a very average first half in the grand scheme of things has got so many United fans exited. Our standards seem to have dropped a lot. We were at home, this was a weak CSKA side who haven't kept a clean sheet in the CL since 2006. While it was a slight improvement we should still expect far more.

To everyone whose already commented on this article, how is the op wrong? It was tripe, were toothless, we were fortunate Smalling slid in and blocked and ball that was rolling into the net.

The only way in which the OP is wrong is that any team we face this season will be better than Villa and Sunderland.

The fans reactions in the stadium tell you all you need to know about that performance, halftime there were boos and chants of "attack, attack, attack" Boos when Martial was took off, constants groans at the backwards passing when on the edge of their box

i thought we dominated the game, and found some creativity against a well drilled defensive formation.

But he did, so they wont, simples, decent performance imo, each to their own

I thought we played quite well. They were overly defensive and we won.

In Europe, you take it and move on

all our recent games have been pretty tough man, both cska games were against a tough team who didn't come to attack.

city parked the bus, and palace are no mugs at home.

we got some tough games out of the way now so should start scoring some more goals and the team should continue gelling

It seems some people enjoy mind numbing tedium, each to their own

I think the fact none of the CSKA defenders had a particularly good game shows that we were again lacking in the final third.

The was effort in the first half, especially from Rojo and Lingard but in terms of an offensive game it was poor, did the keeper make a save?
