He had a good game last night, took his goal extremely well and Poch was full of praise for him. Unfortunately he's not going to get much game time as there is so much competition. Loan or sell with a buy back clause might be best for him sadly

I thought he was pretty poor second half (bar the goal) but played well first half. Guy in the stands behind us was slating him for 10 mins solid until he scored

He looked like he tired second half, which was hardly surprising given the workload they all got through. He's probably not as used to that tempo for a full game as the regular first teamers

Fair play tommy. Taking his chances when he gets it and poch clearly likes him. Not sure he will ever be a starting 11 player but certainly a decent back up to Eriksen if need be. Lovely goal to.

Thanks for the welcome guys, it's much appreciated! I agree Vertonghen Groove that Carroll probably doesn't have a future- shame but we have better players in his position(s). Also agree that it isn't surprising that he tired second half- sounds like the first half was intense, and tbh I think given the nature of the game we play I think players generally need a few games to adjust to the intensity of our system. Re the idiot that was slating him before he scored, we have too many people like that at the Lane these days- bit like some posters on here already saying Son and Clinton are duffers. Give this team a bit of time- it'll get better with age!

And Chronic, it's a tough one! For the most part, I think most posters on here are fairly reasonable- I wouldn't say I have favourites. I always find LookLikeModric an interesting read although I reckon he's too harsh on Poch. Think it's much easier to speak about posters I'm not so keen on! I (like everyone I think!) have been enjoying RC's absence!

I have never really rated Carroll though, he's an alright player but if a player is that lightweight they have to have fantastic vision, technique and passing which I don't think he has.

Looks to have improved slightly athletically, but not enough to be a PL player.

Christ, Jimmy Bullard. That's a long time ago now.

Edin, I agree that Carroll's stature means his technique needs to be fantastic, but I always thought he had a decent chance of making it until last year. His loan at Swansea was a chance for him to really show what he could do and I don't think he took it tbh. I stand by what I said earlier- I could see McClaren taking him at Newcastle (if he's still there come Jan), or Garde at Villa. He can keep the ball well enough- for many of the teams in and around the drop that could be invaluable come May.

What did I tell you about Hernandez? Another thing that I got right. I said spurs should of signed Hernandez as a striker to compliment or be back up for Kane and you gave me so much s**. The guy he's scored 14 in 17 games in the bundlesliga. Apologies on a post card chronic

Galv, before the berahino rumours starting surfacing I was pushing the boat out for Hernandez to spurs for months. The likes of chronic etc gave me s**. Look how right I was though. The guy is finally getting games and scoring goals for fun in a really tough league

I doubt Carroll will ever be able to cement a spot in this team or future Spurs teams. At 23, he isn't old but we have Alli (19), Dier (21) and Bentaleb (21) who are all younger and better.

As mentioned, his spell at Swansea wasn't a success and was behind the pecking order with players like Shelvey ahead of him. I wouldn't sell Carroll though, as long as he is happy with the role he has then keep him.
