Lvg bemoaned our lack of balance when he first came to utd. 18 months on the balance is even worse and to add to that we are toothless which was at least on thing we weren't.

I think that's a worry, because at the moment we don't seem to be able to play any attacking football without completely leaving our defense exposed and looking very vulnerable, LVG needs to find a balance and fast.

Agree. It's up to him to find the right balance and he doesn't need the January transfer window to do this. A change of system and one or two changes in terms of personnel and I think it's possible.

I think having Herrera back will help in some way linking our attack to the midfield a little.

Herrera for me is absolutely essential but unfortunately Van Gaal just doesn't seem to rate him that much.

Younger, Sharper, Energetic LVG maybe able to significantly change his approach. Current LVG is washed up version of the one who managed Ajax. He doesnt even have the energy to walk over to the touchline these days

There is no chance he'll change his philosophy over coming weeks. He will stick to the one he knows and get sack this month.

They pretty much got rid of moyes when top 4 was out of reach. I'm sure there were expections of more from the board regarding this season but the minimum from a well publicised commercial deal is cl qualification.

I'm sure for the 8 years arsene Wenger won nowt there were high expectations but he managed to qualify consistently for the cl which for them was most likely their minimum expectation.

If he scrapes 4th place and gets his 3rd year and we pass by the chance to have one of those two managers, questions should be asked.

I really don't want us to become a sacking club, but these circumstances are fairly unique.

I'd give Van Gaal £200m in the transfer window to go away.

We are talking about the next 2 games which if won could potentially have him back on track for pl expectations for this season. Nobody knows if he will "scrape" anything or what may be said to him at the end of the season.

But fair enough I probably had another poster in mind when replying to you.

The REALITY is van gaal has a 3 year contract and there are minimum expectations the prime one being cl qualification. That is why these next 2 games are so important to his job. He loses 1 or both of them and that minimum expectation looks unlikely and he's gone. He wins them under the present circumstances well then he deserves to continue which is what the club will allow and should allow imo.
The op was advocating his sacking even if he wins these 2 games.

I take your point about planning for the future with pep available but why you would want van gaal replaced by someone who failed in almost all aspects of his Chelsea job is baffling to me.
