Your examples of 'quality' are pretty poor.

Butland is flavour of the month but has barely 30 top level games under his belt. Why people are so convinced he is miles better than the keeper with the most clean sheets in 2015 is beyond me.

Barkley is having the first consistent season of his career so far. I like him a lot but he's not a player with 5 top years under his belt and would be ludicrously expensive.

Ditto Stones. Evertons defence is absolute mince this season yet for some reason this guy has the reputation of Franco Baresi just because he doesn't fall over when he controls the ball.

Gundogan is the only genuinely top level proven player you have named, but is one who is still recovering from an injury plagued couple of years.

Mhkitaryan looks good but so does/did Kagawa for Dortmund, and we have several players who play the same position as him already. Not to mention why would he leave them anyway to come to a Europa League side (in all likelihood), when Dortmund will almost certainly be back in the CL? (Same for Gundugan also).

Terrible examples really.

Funny thing is when Barkley and Stones eventually move on to one of the big boys, GB will start saying Lallana and Sakho are better anyway

Igor... what? So Barca, Madrid and Bayern players are as hard to get as Everton, Stoke and Dortmund palyers.... r U fkn serious
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never mentioned Gundogan or Butland did I?

And yes, there is no way on God's green Earth that Everton would sell their two best home grown talents to their arch rivals, who they have designs on overtaking. How to instantly say "Our club has utterly no ambition, and we are happy to be the cities other team." We would honestly be more likely to sign Messi and Ronaldo.

Some of the things you say are so far beyond stupid you have to be on the WUM.

To be fair Stones is a product of Barnsley as much as Everton.

Maybe so, but the point still stands.

Not being funny, but if Liverpool are to buy players to progress their squad, then Evertons latest line of fantastically over priced talent aint the way to go.
Leave them to the likes of City, Chelsea, etc.

I just didn't want people thinking the club was solely responsible for his development

Hopefully we now have a manager who will sign the majority of players from overseas where we don't have to pay the hugely extortionate fees that are demanded in the Premier League and can find some bits of quality.

Our transfer policy recently has been terrible and our scouts don't seem keen to sign players from outside the league.

Apart from Firmino, Moreno, Sakho, Alberto, Aspas, Allan, Texeira, Origi, Can, Chirivella, Madger, Ayoniwi, Canos, Ilori, Markovic, Balotelli, Manquillo...

Vert groove, sorry for late reply

There's been loads who have played for both clubs and I am sure there has been a few direct moves. Beardsley was a class act and he played for both.

Barkley for me could go on to be better than any English midfielder , he has the lot. Stones reminds me of Hansen and I would love to have either of these two
