ok, so ill make a point
drogba for chelsea looked god awful when he first came
took him at least a season to come good if not more
Alot of chelsea fans on the Chelsea board wanted Willian out of the club quite early on into his career.
Now look at him
at some clubs it takes time, there are people on the Chelsea board who thinks Pedro is shat,
I say they need at least a season, longer at bigger clubs, it might not take the player that long but patience is always needed
Given premership football is an athletic sport, its one of the few that doesn't factor in "peaking" I would say new signings should get at least 30 games, spread over a couple of seasons.
Personally I'm willing to wait a long time if they are putting in the yards.
I had just about written off Allen but he was motm last night and maybe he'll kick on from there.
I'm certainly willing to wait on the likes of Benteke and especially Firmino but must admit I don't see anything in Markovic so maybe it comes down to individual interpretation and appreciation.
It's a tricky one, Lamela is improving for example, but in summary I think people get too hung up on cost.
I genuinely don't care how much they cost.
We're most players given a couple seasons to get going?
In my lifetime I think players are usually expected to show something within the first few months, unless they're a kid still developing.
Problem United are seeing currently is an unsettled side who aren't winning anything so players coming in are needed to make a difference. But in general I think players are given a fair amount of time to settle.
Most said Memphis would need time to settle and while he's been useless so far I think most United fans still accept that he probably needs a bit of time still.

Ozil is a fine example. Big money move, everyone expected him to kick on from the go. Now after 2 seasons of adjustments, consistency is showing.

Forgot about him. Easy money he has got.

I remember Suarez being a very frustrating player in his first season. Would create chances for himself, be greedy and not do a lot...
Yes I remember Drogba looking like an amateur footballer in his first year at the bridge and a lot of his early goals were quote fortunate.
Henry was a failed winger when he was brought to England..
Money and this modern expectation is destroying
the game and with expectation adds unnecessary pressure to developing players.
Two seasons is the minimum imo .
Depends on the cost, age and certain factors with the club they've joined.
There is no set formula
There are always differing circumstances. You might sign a domestic player with a lot of PL experience who should settle relatively quickly
Could be an overseas youngster or seasoned professional. Someone might speak good English or no English
How often to clubs buy players then not play them in the positions they had been playing in for their previous clubs
Maybe your a big fish in a small pond but at a bigger club don't get the attention or support that you are used to. That might unsettle you for a while
Or maybe you've moved to Manchester. Who wants to live there?

But those examples are no different to today. All these players much like Ozil now were given plenty of stick and pressure during their first year or so at their clubs but managed to improve.
How is it different now?

I would be wrong if I said that there never has been pressure to succeed at a big club?
However IMO the expectation is almost unrealistic at times in the modern age and bedding in doesn't even come into people's comprehension?
At £42+ million and a seasoned international with decent English, Ozil achieved very little and actually got off lightly
He's been OK so far this season but I seem to remember Ramsey been the second coming as well after a few good months a couple of years ago
A player like Ozil needs to be continuous 'decisive' on the pitch in the big games, when the pressure is on
So far he's not really delivered. It's not as if Arsenal have or are that likely to win a big competition
Bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question.
Bale was rightly given 6+ years.
Ozil looks good after 2 years.
Aguero hit the ground running.
I don't think it's that much worse than over the past 10-15 years though.
I can mainly talk about United as I see them week in week out and I don't think there's that much pressure for the new players to perform, no more than before. All the new players have done ok and not getting any pressure apart from maybe Memphis who many said at the beginning of the season needs time. The main issue people have with him is that he doesn't seem to be trying as hard as some feel he should be he is still being afforded time. The other player that maybe some are a little impatient with is Schneiderlin but I think many can see he isn't being allowed to full express himself.
I think players coming in from leagues in other countries need a season to settle and get used to the pace and intensity of the PL which is like no other. At City it took Silva a season to look anything like the player he is now, however I expected Bony to hit the ground running when he joined from Swansea as he was already acclimatised but he's been a shadow of the player that we bought so I think you have to look at confidence as well,as he's certainly a better footballer than we've seen.
Sometimes players can take the leap up to a bigger club in their stride as Ali at Spurs has shown but there are many others who've really struggled to be a bit part player from a big fish and never recovered,it can be a very unforgiving league and will only continue to get worse in that regard as the instant success is craved more and more with the amount of cash being thrown at the clubs these days.

This whole PL proven, or foreign player thing is BS tbh. Some players struggle to adjust, some don't. Where they played before is irrelevant.
