That isn't papers working together though is it?
..................
It is called copying what one newspaper says. Thus story gets reported by lot of the media giving impression to the very gullible that story must be true and is a media briefing.
Yes, some of it might be leaked out by the cub, but most of it bull. We know this by the amount of crap that does not come to pass.

But VC has a big issue understanding this basic premise.
.............
No, I don't.
But I do have trouble taking everything the media says as gospel.
If you want to attack me for that feel free.
There has always been BS in the media about united because News about United sells.
Why do none of thr other clubs brief the media in the same way?
Anybody ever seen one of these club briefs
It's obvious when the club has purposely briefed the media, I.e the Moyes sacking, because they all individualy report the same thing at the same time.
VC
But that's a completely different point to the one Mata had originally made and has no real relevance to what we are discussing.
Mata and Darren are both talking about situations where 1 story is reported by multiple papers at the exact same time which is not about 1 paper taking a story from another or working with another paper but far more likely that all these papers were briefed by the same source at the same time.
Just because someone hasn't been quoted doesn't mean they've not received info from, or been briefed by, the club.
..................
It also doesn't mean they have does it?
It is called copying what one newspaper says

Or even copying some dodgy tweet off or crappy blog post.
But that's a completely different point to the one Mata had originally made and has no real relevance to what we are discussing.
..............
No it isn't.
Tell me something. If you have been briefed by the club, why wouldn't you quote who briefed you?
They are hardly liable to sue you as you would have the rest of the media as witnesses.
VC,
Tell me something. If you have been briefed by the club, why wouldn't you quote who briefed you?
-------------------
Surely even you can figure that out?
Ji
Yeah we all know that side of the media exists but I think most are able to work out what is BS and what isn't. Like most things you can't dismiss everything that doesn't have a direct quote or source like VC does every time, you have to use a bit of common sense and work out what stories might have a bit of truth in them.
No it doesn't. But your point was that if they were briefed by the club then they'd quote whoever briefed them which isn't true.
If Ed Woodward told a Guardian reporter that LVG smells and does really eggy farts I doubt he'd want his name associated to that information would he?
The papers want the briefs, so they're not going to publish a name if the club doesn't want them to, besides it's probably a middle man called Keith.
What I mean is that mainstream printed press are now gleaming bits of (mis)information from social media, which leads them all to run the same story, the next day.
Now, on the odd occasion, a club might leak a bit of info to the press and they all run with it... But the idea that every time a story breaks in all papers it adds an extra weight is ludicrous. Especially in the internet age, where the printed press is always running on Macca time.
How did united benefit from 'briefing the media' that moyes was getting the push exactly????
Ji
True, but I think you can usually tell them apart. The Jose stuff was primarily coming from social media and worked its way into the papers and most of us saw that as it was happening.
Reddevil
Because Moyes was failing and the news of him being sacked was taken very positively by fans and in some way took the heat off the board.
The media can be very nasty at times but clubs are also well aware that they can use them to their own advantage so good relations are usually kept between them, hence why the identity of people are so often kept secret.
There's plenty of 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours'.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
But loads, countless wrong stories also take that same route ... social media to printed press.
The press is not realtime, so the big 1 paper scoops are few and far between... Therefore, all papers running the same stories has little to no added weight.
"No I can't. Help me out?"
F-ck me, VC is hard work.
If you paid attention to the papers, they weren't saying Mourinho was gonna replace Van Gaal. They wrote preliminary contact was being made with his representatives, in the case Van Gaal couldn't get United out of their slump.
Ji
What do you mean exactly? Papers can all write the same scoop if they're all told it, the Ferguson retiring story is a great example of that.
I think Mata is talking about the ones like the Ferguson story, multiple papers writing the same/similar stuff at virtually the same time which hadn't been sourced from social media gossip.
I think Mata is very good because he just gives us what he's heard and more often than not doesn't suggest it is 100% but gives his opinion based on the source. I think it's then up to the reader to decide what they think of it. Rob likes to sensationalise and that gets a lot of people angry here.

Try making an effort then, so far you have not said anything worth while.
If the club hold a media briefing, why not directly quote what was said?
If it is Ed or LVG or one of the directors why not just quote him?
I suspect that what you are referring to are 'leaked stories to the media' and not actual briefings.
