Stopped reading after your first sentence...we have milner, henderson and dier in and yet you say drinkwaters a work horse? who is the best passing midfielder we have. Strange sentence.
Drinkwater is an average passer, like all the other midfielder's bar Wilshere
What is with everyone demanding Wilshere? The guy has barely kicked a ball over the last few seasons. He isn't fecking Pirlo... Geez the football intelligence of most England fans is stifling!
Rooney is the main problem, I think we can find a solution at least to our attacking problems if he wasn't playing.
He is the captain though and as a result it's inevitable he will start even though fans want him dropped. We are forced to try build the team around him and Roy ain't got a solution to it. He was clueless last night.
Still think our main undoing at the tournament will be defensively. A lot of the successful teams can struggle to be potent up front but they are always good defensively. We are shiitt.
Because if you actually watch England play with and without Wilshere, it's clear that he's needed in the side. Without him the midfield is awful
What is with everyone demanding Wilshere?

Because they watch football?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
take it you have not watched a PL game this season? Drinkwaters short passing and skill in tight spaces was crisp and quick, to kante and mahrez and co to start a break. Alternatively his long range passing over the top to vardy was exceptional. no doubt in my mind him and carrick are the best passing englishmen atm.
How is Drinkwater a better passer than Wilshere? Remember Wilshere's assist for Ox vs Scotland? Far better than a long ball over the top into space for Vardy to run on to. Moreover, Drinkwater in the friendlies was full of sideways and backwards passing whereas Wilshere gets the ball moving forward
If Drinkwater is the best passer we have got then we may as well go route one from Hart to Kane.
Yeah D'jeezus if they watch, they have seen wilshere play very little football. When are people going to be selected on form and what they are doing for their club. Not how much they fit in with the imagery of what 'good' looks like.
Because basing a team on club form leads England to the turgid display of the first half yesterday. When the 'out of form' technical players came on the pitch we immediately improved, you can't be shoehorning players in

didnt wilshere play like 10 minutes and so your gonna judge drinkwaters passing on one and a half if that friendly appearances in a poor experimental england teamI like wilshere, his quick feet, dribbling and passing, but no way is he as accomplished as a passer as drinkwater.

what technical players? drinkwater didnt come on. Wilshere had like 2 minutes. And we scored a header ffs
I judge these players on their performances for England and their overall ability, not hype based off club form in altogether different systems
Until that happens England will continue to be a country that make up the numbers. Hasn't gotten England anywhere in the past. Lessons never learned though. How many goals has Rooney scored at major tournaments? Yeah exactly yet he is usually the first name on the sheet even though he is unfit and has been since he was like 21. Walcott taking to a World Cup because of reputation even though a ball hadn't been kicked. Wilshere hasn't done anything of note, yet he is on the plane. Great message sent to young upcoming talent. Your imagery is more important that actually how good you have been playing and the effort that has been put in.
If England classify Danny Drinkwater as a technical player we might as well pack our bags and go home
Wilshere and Sterling came on and the performance improved drastically, I doubt you watch football properly
Analog I watch a lot of football for me Drinkwater oils be in the squad nothing more. The midfield three should've been Alli, Lallana and Dier yesterday. With Sturrigde and Vardy playing of the outside of Kane.

Wow
Anyone who has watched Leicester this season or over the last few, will tell you how good Drinkwater's passing is, nickalopodis is absolutely spot on. He doesn't hit hopeful long balls, they're accurate and his vision is excellent. He moves the ball forward quickly, we just wouldn't be able to play on the counter if he didn't, it's a fundamental part of our play as a counter a cracking team. Before criticising him you should actually have some knowledge of watching him play, honestly some people really are clueless. Danny Murphy has been praising him all season on MOTD as the most complete English midfielder and highlighting his excellent vision and passing ability yet you cretins know better. Deary me
He was played out of position for England when he should be played in front of the back four, his stats this season show how much more effective he has been in that position than Dier.
Playing Vardy and Sturridge wide is square pegs in round holes, as usual with England. Just get Sterling and Lallana wide

why would hype be based off form? if someone is in good form it's nothing to do with hype you seem clueless. Altogether systems? England only just started playing this "system" so completely different to when wilshere was playing in friendlies. Your clueless. Im not even saying drinkwater should be there but he is the most technical passer who was available.
You seem clueless and void of listening to anyones opinions.

even lallana is not a winger
Lallana is comfortable wide, plays there for Liverpool and did for Southampton often
Wilshere and Sterling came on and the performance improved drastically, I doubt you watch football properly
----------------------------------------
The performance improved because the system changed to one that was more workable. We went to a 1 up top formation, which was implemented better than the 442 diamond.
I quite like the 442 diamond, but it was wrong last night because the players were asked to implement it in completely the wrong way.
There's been lots of crap about how it was Rooney's fault that everyone played rubbish last night, and if he was removed everyone would be playing well.
The system was poorly executed. Different players would still have had the same problem.
We changed late on to a different formation which the players coming on as subs were more familiar with, hence the slightly improved performance.
Hart
Walker Stones Smalling Rose
Alli Dier Wilshere
Lallana Kane Sterling
--------------
At this moment in time, that would be my preferred XI. That said, I can understand:
1. Reservations over Wilshere's fitness
2. Wanting to play Vardy
3. Wanting to play Rooney, if only for his experience
So I can see Roy's dilemma.
I am also in two minds about Lallana. One of our more technical players, yes, but does he really do enough? Does he impose himself on games? A bit too nice and not quite aggressive enough, perhaps. I think he's a good player, though, and I'd like to see him start games and step up.
