Friend of the family who is involved in politics and WW1 and WW2 memorials is along with friends dressing up in WW1 military garb to do some memorial event. I'm not sure whether it belittles things or is distasteful, or a positive effort to keep the youth informed. Particularly as he has no history in the armed services. I dunno.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No offence, but I find them extremely odd. I wouldn't say it was distasteful IMO.
I genuinely don't know. All I know is he puts tremendous effort into getting memorial plaques etc made. But I also think the horrors of WW1 make the uniform something that very few have the right to wear or associate themselves with. I probably shouldn't over think it.

We need article 50 this year
-------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We need to get on with it
Legal experts think that we need to pass an act of parliament before we can trigger article 50 some thing to do with the 1972 European Community act.

You want to get on with it and have article 50 invoked this year, I asked why, but you've not answered.
Nows your chance to tell us..

Interesting view on the trade talks:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36678222
--------
That's fair enough, it at least maps out the next steps.
1) invoke article 50
2) trade using WTO rules
3) begin trade talks while trading under WTO rules
Right, let's see who has the appetite to invoke art 50

Yes correct Cal, trigger article 50 and leave the EU, then start trade as WTO member, while negotiating other terms

It's a bit complicated. But until we leave the EU we trade as an EU member surely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We will be until someone presses the article 50 detonator. Then we have two years.
We then have the Tory government will have two years to negotiate a deal against an army of EU experienced, battle hardened trade negotiators. This will drag on
We will then accept the a deal which includes free movement of labour and the more vociferous outers will go mental. Meanwhile we will be out of the EU with no say in how it is run, but due to necessity having to adhere to the fundamental rules.
I assume the MPs are holding off until they've sold all their UK based properties and shares.
Once they've cashed in as much as they can they'll begin the proper leave proceedings and watch the UK plummet into a huge recession.

You cynical b'stard!
How dare you, it won't be the MP's... on their own!
The Civil Servants will be doing the same and making sure their pension funds are aligned correctly with minimal exposure from volatile trading positions.

Is anyone going to the Somme memorial parade in Manchester today?
What is worse?
An unelected PM invoking article 50, with a mandate to do so.
An unelected PM signing the Lisbon Treaty, after reneging on a referendum?
Has anyone seen the Email from Allistair Campbell to Kelvin Mackenzie?

What more potentially self destructive decision has there been this Millenia than to lie about Iraq in order to take us to war? To essentially give Daesh their wings?

As for "rubbing the right's nose in it" re mass immigration, the irony of it is one if the groups most immigration-led among out voters was his party's core support.
