Well well well, that useless non league manager who should have been sacked 3 years before he was has beaten us with a team which cost less than the hapless Blackman and who's wages are probably less for the whole team than the overweight, permanently offside, walks like an old man Bent.

What a shambles our club is, why are Bryson and Hughes playing so deep? At one stage I thought Bryson was playing centre half. Why does Martin get no service? How can he score if he doesn't get a pass? Why is Bent so unfit? He is a complete waste of space and needs getting rid of.

Tom Ince was even worse than I have ever seen. The highlight of the match was when they showed his daddy's face when he was taken off. Ince was atrocious and didn't put any shift in at all. I thought he had played better against Villa but our new bully boy manager took him off for Bent.

Some say that Keogh played well, not me I think he could have done better for their goal and doesn't captain the team properly. Olsson was poor and Russell was terrible.

How has the team who played so well at Hull in April gone down to this level?

I think the answer to my questions is the manager, he seems clueless just like Jewell who had done well at other clubs. When he picked the team for the first league match I knew he hadn't a clue and sadly I'm right.

Some of you who posted such nasty things about Nigel Clough should be ashamed of yourselves, he did bloody well with a bunch of journeyman players and out fought and out played us.

Well done Nigel Clough, I would have you back as manager today and if he was still with us we would be in the top league, maybe even in Europe. (sorry I'm getting carried away)

Burton Albion have just beaten us and are above us in the league, I can't really believe it.

I am with VC 10 as I most often am. He is completely right. My biggest disappointment is that NP has learned nothing form the 6 proper games we have played.

Walsall tok a while but was never so pig-headed as NP appears to be and hence no commitment from his players.

Bloody predictive! Walsall = Wassall

posted on 27/8/16

Last night I saw Scteve and Wassall and I would take either back and Nigel C but probably not Roy Mac and definitely not Paul Ince.

Ramdini, who was it who said that to keep doing the same thing time and time again is madness? Because the new answer will be Nigel Pearson.

I've got a feeling that our manager might just walk. I hope he does, we can't go on like this, we've got good players, they need managing not Tommy Dochertying.

The difference in the teams was largely this: our players 'fought' and tackled like their next pay cheque / career depended on it. Burtons players fought and tackled like they were trying to prove a point and further their careers. Fair dues to them, that is NC's level of players.

He couldn't get our over-paid bunch of primadonnas to play for him.

Sadly it appears - neither can NP

Slight over reaction VC.
Having said that - it was poor and you have correctly identified the players who played badly. Bent is the player who actually has scored as he's supposed to and showed the most promise in pre season.Yes he was caught offside 3 times, but isn't that a case of a more organised defence than a bad forward?
What annoys me is all the pre amble in the days leading up to the game. Al the 'We shouldn't do this and we won't do that' then they go and do the opposite.
Strange that McClaren and Simo were at the game.

VC 10, The quotation you seek is by Albert Einstein, his definition of insanity

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Clough seems to do well when there is no expectation of success - maybe it is easier to play with freedom when there is less to lose. He reached a ceiling with us. I think he did a lot of good things for our club but I am sure we would not have been promoted under him. He was not good under pressure.

Pearson's teams in the past have never lacked commitment. He has inherited a squad with a lot of players on good contracts. There may well be quite a few he would like to move on but that might not be possible. It looks to me as though he is still assessing what some players are capable of and you only finfd that out in competitive games. The early subbing so of Ince and Martin last night suggest he might be reaching conclusions although I would certainly have given Martin and Wilson a chance together.

It's hard to see it turning around quickly but Pearson's history suggests that he gets his teams playing well and that he is prepared to sacrifice fan's favourites to do so. Could be an interesting few days before the window shuts.

So it seems the only solution is to replace the current set of overpaid primadonnas with another crop of even-more-overpaid primadonnas ?

After two games, Mrs. Moj suggested, to my initial horror, that we should have McLaren back ( this, after she had professed her disgust at the manner of his leaving)

Well, I'm coming around to her way of thinking. Anything must be better than this. This is the second televised Rams game during which I have fallen asleep. It's worse than I thought: we are not just bad, we are boring. The only pleasure I took from last night was seeing Barks come on the fiekd, albeit briefly, for a competitive match.

Not sure if that was aimed at my post Ang, but that's not what I was personal saying...

posted on 27/8/16

No Baz, not aimed at you mate, but with some of the names being touted as saviours before the window shuts, your comment prompted it

posted on 27/8/16

Nor me Ang. Incomings don't have to be even more overpaid or primadonnas, it's down to the manager to bring in the right players. There may well be some at the club who can do what Pearson wants them to but at the moment it looks as though a few do not believe in it. IF that's the case they have to go - we can't have the lack of commitment we saw last night.

posted on 27/8/16

You'd expect commitment from those who claim to be proud Rams - Keogh, Bryson, Russell, Hughes, Martin etc.
It's a puzzlement why we aren't getting it from most of them.

posted on 27/8/16

They are not doing it for the manager or the club. As a consequence of something or by design?

I'm really disappointed in our midfield. I keep saying this. I was surprised Pearson went with the same midfield that was terrible against Villa in the 1st half. If he was to play 3 again he may as well of given Baird the holding role to allow Bryson and Hughes further up the pitch, Nobody got close to Martin...only Russell once in 1st half played off him. Not defending Martin at all but why take him off then go 2 upfront? Bent is offside virtually every time we attack. As for Ince's performance...well...bordering on sackable. We can buy a forward this week but it wont improve us till we address the midfield.

I would personally say that incr has little future under Pearson but Chris Martin probably will be ok. Martin is a Pearson type player when he gets the service to him, ince just isn't

If you look at his history at Leicester, he used flair players and indeed signed them, but he had a history of preferring wingers like Lloyd Dyer - quick and direct and who track back.

Mahrez was used intermittently under Pearson in the prem and only realised his full potential under Ranieri. Similar with Knockeart who Pearson sold, same with Gradel in league 1. Reason being is they didn't work hard enough, consistently enough for his liking.

This backfired in the prem when you need flair players like Mahrez and you can't expect them to constantly track back - it's just not their style. In the championship though, it works differently I guess. Tom ince probably won't be around by Christmas and I would expect to see grafters bring signed and possibly Andy King or Matty James coming into the midfield

Me and my dad said Baird should have been in the midfield. We've never replace Eustace for the bite in midfield, as a team we are too soft with no aggression. Last night a 20 year old kid making his competitive debut was knocking Derby players about. He left his foot in on Christie early on, let Hughes know, Bryson as well and knocked Shackell about and nobody gave him it back, Backo in your day if a kid like Miller was playing against you doing that what would have happened? I know Eustace would have put him in his place early on. Martin is down on confidence and you can understand why with the lack of service and this had been an issue for a while. How he's suppose to get balls hit 4 ft above him or short to him. If replacing Martin is the answer, well taking him off last night and replacing him with 2 forwards failed, again largely down to the poor service. I wish the CB's would learn how to pass a ball out of the back like bucko used to. Forsyth is going to be a big miss and maybe it could be time to give Lowe a chance but the timing has to be right,

The biggest mistake that this manager, the previous manager, the one before and the one before that (Scteve) is that they haven't bought cover for Thorne. If only we had a defensive midfield player in the team, Will and Bryson would be bombing forward playing off Martin and we would be scoring goals.

I've just noticed that we had a chap called Wilson come on with Bent. I didn't notice him at all, did anyone notice him doing anything? I know he's only just joined us and it's too soon to criticise but the new forward for Burton put himself about in his first league game.

If Wilson and Yman play in the same team how can we tell them apart?

Nice to see Shaun Barker back on the field.

The analyses by Griff and VC10 seem to be about right and also pretty obvious. Why can't Pearson see that?

I think Pearson spent the last season in hibernation and so was completely unaware of what he inherited at Derby, hence his appearing to be lost.

With all the added time after 90 mins, surely Barks is due a testimonial?

It's incredible, at least until you see who the comments are coming from, that people are quoting the definition of madness in one breath and then advocating bringing back Clough in the next: we were 14th when he got sacked, ffs. They also call NP for trying to play another way, when the original 'Derby Way' has seen us tread water for how many seasons now? Get a grip, ffs. They won their cup final, we dropped three points in what will surely be the first transition season under NP.

Grow a pair, even if it's just between you all

The forwards were all invisible except Bent who you noticed when he was offside i.e. a lot. While Burton worked hard we were just not up to the task of giving the front players decent service. The midfield were too easily knocked off the ball as were the wide players although Camara at least showed a bit of intent. As they said on the telly we moved the ball far too slowly which meant there was no space for the forwards. Hughes showed glimpses but there was no bustle at all about our play and very often he just laid it off backwards and ambled forwards. There has got to be far more urgency. I thought Christie did his best but nearly got caught out a couple of times. None of the others appeared to want to influence the game in any meaningful way.

There may be an ounce of wisdom in what 666 is saying but it's obscured by about a ton of vitriol and sarcasm so I could be wrong.

Are treading water? or are we plunging to the bottom? Answering that could be the smidgeon of wisdom in his remarks.

Pearson quote "....players out of form and struggling to deal with game situations"

Or, as we would say, play football.

Tricky, if you are a professional footballer

666 is right. Time to wind in the hysteria.
