Maybe if the fans concede the fact that results will come before play, you might support your managers more.

-

Will happily concede the point, but the results aren't forthcoming.

Some might have entertained other ideas initially because they hoped Mourinho would adapt his approach to his new employers. Most fans concede it's going to be results before play, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll embrace the idea. It isn't esy when your club for the best part has a tradition of daring, attacking football.

To be honest, the media are hypocrits.

When Mourinho defends a 1-0 its negative, when the Italian national side do it, its a tactical masterclass.

For me, the biggest problem United have is that they've appointed a manager who exhibits all the wrong attributes for a club with a recognised ethos.

Can the fans accept such a change in image ?

Utd fans should have known what they were in for. In terms of style, what else did they expect.

Metro,

I believe that right now the fans would accept any change that gets us back in contention for league and champions league titles.

Metro & Lambeau (Flash?):

You'll always have divided opinion.

"Right now" is the operative term. Most would accept it short term, more would probably oppose it in the longer run. Once the trophies start flowing again (if they do), there'll come a time when they demand more.

I agree tbh. When your team is winning then you're happy.

Having said that, remember when West Ham won at Upton Park during Allardyces reign and the fans still booed due to the standard of football?

U remember Shen UTD played arsenal away, Rooney and Ronaldo destroyed them on the break!

I think that's the last time I saw a utd team play properly, since den it's been laboured sideways passing , and team now just sit and wait to catch you on the break

I reckon under LVG we were top or in top 4 easily of distance covered. I knew under Mourinho we would go from an aggressive pressing team to a team that plays from deeper and go for counter attack. Least distance covered. Thats why I don't like Mourinho teams as they are very passive.

Metro I think the poster above (Mouriho etc) hit the nail on the head. At the moment the expectation is low, so we'll tolerate more if it gets us back to winning titles. Once (if) that becomes the norm then there's likely to be a shift - look at City fans wanting to oust Pellegrini when he was winning titles. There needs to be a balance between style and success to keep fans universally happy otherwise there will always be some dissent.

RedMen7 our 11/12 team despite not winning anything major were so gung ho it was incredible. The days when we peppered the goal like crazy.

Even if that were true, a fat lot of good it did us.

Football today is about attacking pace. Whether thats counter attacking like Leicester or moving the ball quickly and pressing like City, that's what successful teams are built on these days.

We lack any kind of style or pace, it's very pedestrian, very sideways.

We never had a style with Jose second time around. It was pretty much sht football plus Hazard trickery.

sure didn't you do the same under LVG according to your stats

Indeed Busby.

Take Shaw form yesterday. I can't remember him once bombing down the wing or once taking a player on.

All he did was get out wide in a good position and then pass of inside to a midfielder. There is no point passing to him at all if that is all he is going to do.

Confidence!

I don't mean in terms of money's or points on the board, but in attacking play.

I just think that maybe your fans and club are comparing the style of play and thinking your are under performing, to be honest Jose will win your silverware but he'll be defensive along the way.

Out of interest what is your take on the "Wenger Out" fans?

Which is incredibly frustrating as we saw him doing it prior to his injury last season.

I just can't understand why Jose didn't buy a DM. He's had one his whole career, from Makalele, to Cambiasso to Matic. It makes no sense.

Apparently he tried to sign Kante, so why didn't we go for another? This should free up the likes of Shaw and Pogba to do their thing without worrying too much.

That was March 1st 2016 updated. I sometimes wonder if any pundit or media watched Man Utd under LVG as they made stuff up completely opposite to reality.

Just checked only Arsenal had more possession then Man Utd last season and Man Utd had most territorial possession 2 seasons in a row under LVG.
