As a side note, is it a coincidence that our results have slowly gone down hill as we have opted to surrender possession more and more the last 18 months?

Careful what you opt for!

I figured that the more goals you concede, the higher your possession stat, given that you kick-off with restarts more frequently. (I'd imagine it's not possible to have zero possession in a game.)

Age and injury will catch up with Barca soon, Iniesta will take some replacing. But for now moment their cast offs will still walk in to most any other squad in world football. (Maybe undeservedly so in Bravo's case).

As for Cinci's earlier question, who was it that argued the toss over the importance of possession above all else? Early Jackett days as I recall. Think was someone in the land of the free .
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember someone saying they liked possession football once upon a time and then having to have constant ridicule ever since due to an opinion.

I don't see where that has ever corolated with uncs possession stats for individual games though?

If it were about silly point scoring then I would just point out the possession stats for all the top teams in world football or the possession stats compared to league position etc etc, but the mauling unc would receive if I went down that route would be way too ugly for this forums stomach

Kenneth didn't have the finances to replace Sako/Dicko and ultimately Afobe and Morgan was evidently losing the love of his new toy !

Agree.

Kenny also didn't have an answer for how to improve us and we ended up playing dull football and underachieving. I think he would have done better this season with the new players and the money than Zenga did though.

Being reported today that the choice now rests between Lambert and Pearson and that an appointment may well be made before the weekend..

Rumours that Lambert was with Wolves officials at the u23s game this week are not true

jackets idea of possession was never shown better than the away game at fulham first season in the champo
from kickoff we had 2 minutes plus possession and the most forward we got was 10 yards into their half.
they got possession and within 20 seconds were in our penalty area

Complete bollax Tamworth !

It wasn't easy getting the hiararchy to sanction the recruitments as they wanted the newly formed A class academy to solve the issues but Kenneth addressed it with signing like Jordan Graham and Mike Zyro ect but the stoaty looking fellow had so much bad luck I think he'd shot a robin

The Knock on effect is that everybody turned on him and said he was a but not Halfy !

I was at that game and although Im sure we did get forward during that opening spell, I agree with what your getting at. It did seem to be a very deliberate statement of policy from the off.But as soon as Parker got the ball it was in our box with McCormack chasing after it.

We played well that night though, Evans was spraying about like Beckham and Sako ripped em to bits, think we missed a pen, but hung on for 1-0.

Stale approached management in the Championship in a brainless way. I was not impressed

Silva will probably be off to Inter Milan. I'll take Lambert or Sherwood and thankfully our ex manager has gone off the radar.

I think Gem's article was just to get some kind of reaction, which it did. Well done mate, although you did have me worried for a bit.

It's amazing what a manger can do, no matter what the strength of the league is, if he has the right players who can perform the way he wants. Just look at the progress of FC Copenhagen.

Unfortunately he didn't have enough players he inherited to complete the job, as the were used to 6 years of hoofball.

Quite happy with Lambert or Pearson, both have used the brainless huff and puff style in this division before so should thrive, we can worry about the prem later and then figure out a more technical style of football.

Lambert was/is in Germany for a bit this week so no announcement til Friday at the earliest I imagine if he is getting the gig.

Stale was a coward, that was his failing, he didn't want to rock the boat early so largely used the same failing players rather than his new toys.

Tim Nash (ex E&S) seems to be claiming some insider info and has said on twitter that Sherwood's not been spoken to. Neither has Ince. Its him that's putting it about that KT wants NP but JS isnt sure.

I thought it might be the other way round, but Pearson's recent behaviour is doing him no favours. Looks like it going to be Lambo.
