Good point there were no protests or riots in America
Self interest, pure and simple
its abundantly clear that all sides are prepared to accept the choice of the election , and abide by the democratic vote

I never understand this blind faith in democracy. If the majority vote for a genocide does that make it right? I'm not saying Trump elected as president is as bad as a genocide. It's just something I don't understand about the logic behind democracy. Surely there must be a more justified merit-based system which can differentiate between qualified and unqualified voters?

Really what makes ur vote better than mine apart from potentially opinion
Clinton got more votes than Trump
It was 240,000 when I last looked about an hour ago.
Personally I feel that the important point that the country unites and takes on board the message that a large part of the uk population are not happy , they won the vote and the rest of the country should have the humility to respect the vote and get together to make the country stronger.
Not destabilize the economy and push the country towards constitutional crisis.
Because they lost and want to throw there toys out of the pram.

We don't vote for a person. You vote for a local member of parliament and the party with the most members of parliament appoint a leader.
You'd never have it when a candidate has less votes in a constituency and still wins.
Don't try and liken our politics to a presidential race it's chalk and cheese.

I do think there should be some sort of qualification you need to pass to show you actually have a clue about what you're voting for.
Do you not think Brexit would have made more sense had people been educated and only those that understood the risks and advantages were allowed to vote?
I think the point is what ever the democratic system is in place , (which clearly is supported before the vote)
The outcome should be respected.
If there is an issue about legitismacy of the voting system , then surely this should questioned before not after .

It's probably a culturally difference in terms of there being no or very few riots or protests. I'm generalising a fair bit here, but in general Americans seem to be quite proud about living in the best darn country in the world, whereas the British just think that everyone living on this Island is.
As Willy puts in the Simpsons:
"They're natural enemies ... just like Englishmen and Scots, Welshmen and Scots. Or Japanese and Scots. Or, Scots and Scots. Damn Scots, they ruined Scotland!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of the Simpsons... they predicted Trump would become president 16 years ago.
Emre, what are you banging on about ?
Are you suggesting that the voters for Brexit are all ignorant racist Mmmugs.
Why don't you take a little time and educate your self as to the real problems in the UK and get off your pompous rocking horse.
some countries just do a popular vote, whoever gets the most wins
no idea why people make it so complicated
The conservative and Labour parties have an history of moving the electoral goal posts, this is nothing new
Can't really compare the referendum to the US election.
Also wouldn't say it's been graciously accepted.
