Ferreira, May and Agger were more beneficiaries of the players around them

Tony Adams Not bad for a drunk.

JT has the most impressive record there by far.

If Agger could have stayed fit. Quality player

Without a doubt my personal pick for best ever PL defender up to date

Terry & Adam's have better records!

Carvalho's clean sheet rate tho absolutely insane.
_______________

Hmmm...not really. He also had the fewest appearances of anyone on that list.

The more games you play, the harder it is to maintain that record.

Terry made almost four times as many appearances and had a comparable record - far more impressive imo.

Carvalho was a beast for us. JT and Carvalho were the best CB, Chelsea had in a while, though Ferdinand and Vidic partnership were as good back then.

I don't know why but I have always had a soft spot for Sami Hyypia. He was a class act on and off the pitch.

I'm guessing Rio would be in there as well if we were just talking United. Damn you Leeds and West Ham!

Carvalho struggled with injuries with us, but when he fit was arguably as good as Terry.

Looking forward to Alderweirled making the list.

JT best player in the PL era for me.

How is after the beneficiary of players around him?

None of his defensive team mates make the list. He was Hyypias replacement really.

It basically means the OP didn't see Agger play that much and made an assumption based on him playing against Chelsea twice a season and MOTD highlights.

So you think he was in the top ten in PL history?

I do very much remember the last time he played Chelsea tho, Willian kept making a total mug of him.

Both played for too much sheit in their time

1. Ricardo Carvalho – 135 appearances, 48.9% clean sheets
2. Tony Adams – 255 appearances, 45.1% clean sheets
3. Nemanja Vidic – 211 appearances, 45% clean sheets
4. John Terry – 488 appearances, 44.1% clean sheets
5. Daniel Agger – 175 appearances, 41.7% clean sheets
6. Steve Bruce – 148 appearances, 41.2% clean sheets
7. David May – 158 appearances, 39.9% clean sheets
8. Gary Pallister – 261 appearances, 39.8% clean sheets
9. Paulo Ferreira – 141 appearances, 39.7% clean sheets
10. Sami Hyypia – 318 appearances, 38.4% clean sheets

----

The obvious thing to say is that those with the higher number of appearances have the best rates.

John Terry and Big Sami make the top 10 and played over 400 and 300 games.

Incredible by those two.

I have always had Pallister ahead of Rio in any of my 'Best of' United selections.

He was just a better defender.

JT's record is the most impressive.

OP...Agger was a top defender.
