He was, not sure if he's still at the club. It's a permenant transfer.

Shame if he goes, but if he does it'll be good for him!..

Now just imagine, Barnsley v Leeds play off final!..

1 goal scored from a x-Leeds player!.

How often do x-player's come back and haunt their former employers?.

Be a good move for him, and just what he needs in my opinion.

Sometimes you've got to be unselfish and the lad needs games now and in my mind a fresh start

I don't mind if he goes as I don't think he is mobile enough for what Monk is doing, but he could go to another club and be an important player so I'd wish him well

what happened to the 'no one is leving this month' speech from monk...i like mowatt..

The same thing has happened, that's happened with white

Messed around in positions that never ever was going to suit

Stunts growth and probably a career

Fooking stevie wonder could see he wasn't quick enough for wing, yet played there constantly and kills his game and confidence

He can leave and we can get Hourihane as a swap deal

we ain't getting hourihane....he's off to villa

Shame, will have to find us someone better then. Will be interesting to see how he does there. Was a big fish in a small pond at Barnsley.

Only a big fish because we coached him that well. Came from Plymouth and Lee Johnson would only play him just behind a striker. Said he couldn't play in a 2 in the middle.
Hecky played him in a 2 and created a fantastic player. Hopefully that system will continue.

Judging from the various pics of him holding a villa shirt under the caption ' hourihane signs for villa' I think he might have!

They've certainly spruced up their midfield this window.

would be another foolish short termist move like allowing Tom Lees to go

Wish him well if he goes. Just wish his pace had matched his shooting and technical ability. Shame but probably for the best. Most of all for Alex, truly hope he kicks on now but please note against us!

NOT against us!

You don't need pace to play his preferred position but as LIW says he's been played wide when he's not a wide player.

It will be good for him to move as he needs games. Barnsley will get a good pro who will give them something in midfield. I expect him to kick on and show us what we could have had.

Sorry but was is so pedestrian does have a tendancy to get overrun - not the mix for top 6 I'm afraid.

He'll do well at Barnsley if played in the right position. I hope we get a fair price for him. I'll be sorry to see him go. He's a talented lad and like Hourihane will probably improve. Hope we have a sell on clause.

Phil Hay has confirmed talks. What a completely pointless move. Apparently dependent on us getting a replacement but what if we can't find one? Why not just leave as is?

posted on 27/1/17

Because we want better. Mowatt is slow, has poor stamina, has no right foot and his growth has been stunted. Sorry to see him go, but sometimes the time is right.

A loan might have been better to see how he performs week in week out.

Have to agree with Lubo. Painfully slow and when you come up against decent centre mids he's out of the game

... and Pablo isn't? I think he's a great understudy to Pablo (who can't seem to perform for 90 mins) and should be kept. However he's on £7k a week and third choice so it makes sense for all involved for him to move on. A loan would be better though.

Thing is, we don't get any compensation for Mowatt if he leaves at the end of the season - you only get money for a youth product if you've offered them the same or an improved contract offer and they still want to go.
From reports, the club aren't willing to match the contract they gave him three years or so ago, so it makes sense to cash-in on him now rather than lose him at the end of the season for nowt.
