Aye, equally despicable. I'm not entirely sure but isn't this against the law?

Don't think you are allowed to discriminate against anyone. All kinds are capable though

I read there was an actual Protestant party in Liverpool elections, up until the seventies.....I think labour policies ended sectarianism, although I would still attend orange parades in Belfaat. My catholic wife just wants me out of her house😀

Apparently, the only exceptions are if you are renting a room in your own home or renting without an estate agent/to let advertisement on the house.

Surely muslim only or Polish only rental in a private house can be legally challenged?
A christian b and b was taken to court for opposing gay couple staying in their house.

There are different laws in place there, I think, though a legal challenge could potentially result in the law being revised.

I think what frustrates absolutely everybody is having beliefs and traditions thrust upon you. As a species we don't like change (massive generalisation but an accurate one) and being from Dorset as I am, I grew up in a very white part of the country.

What frustrates isn't people, it's having things shoved down my throat and seeing people refuse to fit into the society in which they have chosen to live. It's the same with the vegan who kicks up a fuss because the steakhouse didn't have any appropriate food. If you are different to cultural norms, then you should adapt for the culture, culture shouldn't ever adapt for you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I like this analogy. If a vegan wants vegan-friendly food in a steakhouse, they should show why it would be beneficial for the steakhouse to acquiesce ie through economic benefit.
The same should go for anyone who wants their culture accepted in a new country.

Vegans are scuum.

Countless incidents of immigrants coming from say Poland (for one) people with criminal records in they're home country coming here and committing more offences. That's what we don't need.

What cheeses me right off is all them Romanian Big Issue sellers in Liverpool. Not only are they taking money off the homeless, they're claiming Tax credits. There's one who's been pregnant 4 facking times.

If ja606 posters were a race I'd hate 90% of that one. Wonder if there IS an ethnic parallel.

Humans are tirbalistic by nature and often find it easier to relate to those who we share similar traits with - with race being one.
Hating someone purely on their race is moronic but it's understandable why people hold onto some racialist beliefs. Everyone on this planet is racist to some degree on another, even if it is subconscious or inoffensive. Whether or not someone is racist isn’t usually a simple “Yes/No” answer.

S'true. Rob for example has very little in common with anyone on the United board and nobody likes him at all.

Anyway, back to the OP.

Racism, to quote one dictionary definition, is "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior."

So if, for example, somebody picked a specific race of people to target when making a specific complaint about the behaviour of a section of society, despite the fact that races across that section of society might display the same behaviour, that would represent racist behaviour in the form of prejudice and discrimination.

But after living in East Lancashire for a number of years I do not feel the same over a large influx of different nationalities moving there. It is difficult to say why, because I am sure many are nice people, but after some thought I think it is simply that I prefer the sounds, sights, scents, language that I have become used to all of my previous life. I like to be able to talk to my neighbours who have a shared history, values and culture. To go to a corner shop I am familiar with, to see people who dress as I do, to feel,in other words, part of a community of similar people.
_____________

If that makes you racist then the people of "different nationalities" to which you refer are also racist because they have exactly the same preferences that you do.

That's why you see people of different cultural backgrounds sticking together - whether in a community, on holiday by the pool or whatever. Polish people gravitate towards other Polish people. Somalians do the same, as do Arabs and even Irish people, despite there being little cultural difference there.

Any psychologist (or recruiter) will tell you that "people like people like themselves". This is a well established scientific fact that everyone knows is true.

Does that mean that everyone is racist?

Spot on.

Very few folk are actually racist, feeling superior to other races.Only a tiny number of white power and black power clowns are overtly pushing racism.

No genuine scientist uses the term 'race' or 'racism' as they have no meaningful foundations.

'Race' is an invention of 19th century, politically motivated, pseudo 'scientists' used to justify things as varied as poverty, criminality, heirarchicalism, colonialism, slavery etc.

It wasn't particularly clever, it wasn't even particularly original, but like a lot of dumb stuff it wasn't too difficult to sell it to the masses. Nationalism in 1930s europe, so called 'brexit' and 'trumpism' are all post-19th century examples of how easy it is to manufacture and sell baseless fears and then turn them into hate.

That is basically what should be understood, there is no such thing as 'racism' because there is no reality in the invention of 'race'. What really exists is an ignorant global population (through no fault of it's own), xenophobia (where 'xeno' has it's true etymological meaning), tribalism type stuff and the projection of hateful rhetoric through virtually all media formats.

So called liberal progressives hate their fellow citizens,,if they vote brexit, Trump, or hold christian views.....what would you label this new form of hate?

Thar's a bit unfair; liberal progressives don't hold a monopoly on a hatred of their fellow man.

Obviously, but they pretend to be nice and progressive.

I was responding to a post going after the usual suspects....the right, xenophobes, nationalists etc.
