OP - How else can one whisper, if not quietly ?

I like your pedantic nature!

Last night's side was a team selected based on form.

Yep... Even Fellaini was decent against WBA.

....................

He wasn't though. But we have got so used to him being pap that when he doesn't do anything wrong he is labeled as decent.

I disagree, let's move on

I could be ridiculous here and suggest that maybe this is the issue, as our form has been crap.

Seems a lot of differing opinions on here- how come Jose isn't coming in for more criticism ?

(All this related to a conversation earlier this season about the similarities between his case and Raúl's, and how we'd had to pay his remaining contract just to get rid.)

...........................

I might be wrong here, but I was under the impression that Owen got a bit of a raw deal at Real because of Raúl.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Raúl was portrayed as this kind of sinister Machavellian character forever maneouvering in the wings to maintain his privileges.

Whatever he might or might not have done to preserve his place though, the blunt truth is that despite he himself being a mere shadow of the player he'd been in his teens and early 20s, neither Owen nor Baptista nor Huntelaar were good enough replacements. I don't think it was his 'fault' he was eventually preferred ahead of them: his effort and dedication were never in question, he was a crowd favourite for most of those years and, perhaps most importantly, was on wages that made him nigh-on impossible to shift anyway.

He'd eventually become such a deadweight though that the club took the decision to pay him all or most of what he had left on his contract, thank him for his services and bid him farewell, just so Mourinho didn't have another headache to deal with.

Our best striker in the second half of the decade was an over the hill RvN. Higuaín was already around, but still too young, and Benzema didn't arrive until the end of the decade.

Jose gets plenty of criticism on here. Some is fair, some isn't.

I don't accept the blame being assigned to Mourinho. We are creating innumerable chances most games, which tells me that the coaching is right.

The players need to be held to account for being wasteful. We should have 4 or 5 players in double figures this season purely on missed "should've scored" opportunities.

From the OP

"and yes, the manager takes his fair share of the blame, of course... he is also paid a fortune and needs to work out how to get these 1st team players into form and bring the confidence back."

I gave him dog's abuse after that 2-1 win at Boro too, that final 30 minutes was painful... Way worse than either of these latest draws... But points make prizes and keep people happy.

That statement is less true now and has been ever since the new year than it was during the first half of the season.

We have more issues than just being unable to finish at the moment.

Performance levels have dropped, we're not creating as much and player confidence seems to be at an all-time low for this season.

Ji

You are correct. It really was painful. To painful for you to remember the score though?

The Mata / Rojo substitution was ridiculous.

You are implying that Fellaini has played better than the other players you mentioned which is miles wide of the mark.
---------------
It's not what I am implying in the slightest. I'm saying that they should be making it almost a no brainer for Jose, and non of them are... I even added in the caveat about a lack of CMs being Jose's fault.

It's almost worthless trying to debate any topic when people are still so angry.
_______________

Speak for yourself, I'm not angry about anything.

Then again, I forgot that no one is allowed to disagree with you.

I won't make that mistake again.

Hi shadow.... You weren't disagreeing with me, you were misinterpreting what I said... I'm surely allowed to address that?

posted on 5/4/17

I had no problem with that. It was the petty comment about people being angry to which I responded.
