That's true, full backs are auxiliary playmakers now with the amount of involvement they have in the attacking play as opposed to just supporting or overlapping.

I like Davies a good squad player. Like the fact he Can play left back or centre back.

Not been entirely convinced on his form recently though we have not been punished but i have not been enamoured with his positioning next to the centre back. Been good going forward but at the rare moments the opposition have the ball he has not quite sat right in his position.

If i was an attacker i would be driving inside the big space between davies and jan then hug the touchline forcing them both out of place.

No harm done though, he has been steady.

I have had to defend him on here a number of times in the past. he's a very good left back, but rose is an outstanding left back, so there is a drop in class... but he's done a great job

also gives an option as the left CB in a 3 too....

He pleasantly surprise me in the last couple of games. Mane tore him a new one against liverpool and i thought he would never come back on form.

Coleman got a lot of good play out of Davies in the Wales team at the Euros.
So he seems a good backup for both Rose of Vertonghen.
