Spurs finished 11 points behind leaders last season and are currently 10 points behind the leaders this season.

Spurs actually finished as close to 8th Liverpool LAL last season as to 1st lol. Spurs were actually never in a title race. They only scraped top 4 as both Manchester clubs bottled 5 points late on in the season. if they hadn't spurs would have finished 5th in a 2 horse race.

Klopp though has made a dreadful Liverpool squad play great attacking football similar to his Dortmund side and they also lost 2 finals under him.
