Arsenal have failed again (imo)

Four players rumoured to be off in the next couple of weeks.

And it's not yet August...

In terms of player recruitment we've done alright although we do need 1 or 2 more players

The situation with players staying or going is pathetic though

Alexis, Ozil, Ramsey, Giroud, Ox, Theo, Wilshere - uncertainty over all these players' futures and still a lot of deadwood to offload

Relax.

We've already addressed our two biggest problem positions.

We needed a CF; we signed one of Europe's top goal-scorers, who's bagged 76 goals in his last 97 top-flight games.

We needed a left-back; we signed the left-back who was in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.

Ozil will sign a new deal, as will Ramsey & almost certainly Ox.

Sanchez won't be sold to a PL team this summer. Worst case scenario, he runs out his deal and goes to City. But it's highly likely that he'll sign an extension after the season starts with a release clause, or goes abroad next summer for free.

We will definitely sign Lemar. Some credible buzz on twitter saying that it's basically done already. It's just a Q of how long we want to drag this out - I think we're waiting on Mbappe to make a decision.

If Sanchez goes, we'll sign Mahrez. So we'd still have Ozil, Lacazette, Mahrez & Lemar as our front four, which would still be the best in the league.

Its quite average considering two unproven, two luxury player who are not consistent.

Fack me, half the squad are still on holiday!

Obviously a lot revolves around Alexis, and he isn't back until the 30th so don't expect movement on that for a couple of weeks.
No one is going to sign a new contract until they see where the limit is set with Alexis's wages. (If, for arguments sake, Alexis got 400k you can be sure the likes of Ramsey, Ox and Theo would want close to 200k)

As for the other outs, I guess it depends if you are happy to take a stupidly low offer (such as the 4m allegedly offered for Szczesny a couple of weeks back) or push for fair prices. The wages some of them on mean permanent moves are unlikely unless we pay them off.

It's interesting that you decided not to count the Kolasinic signing because it didn't fit in with your argument.

Doesn't count because all he did was sign this window...

'Kolasinac is another who looks a good signing but that was agreed a while ago so isnt really business done in this window...'

Words fail me.

Apparently I'm in good company though.

Well company, at least.

You will see a domino effect soon... Shez has all but gone and Gibbs, Jenks, Debuchy will be gone inside 2 weeks...

once that happens you will see a few more go (maybe out on loan) and a couple more come in.

patience is needed, we are still 2 weeks or so from August!

Kolasinac was free to talk to other teams in January as his contract was running out. This deal was agreed well before this transfer window opened. It was announced in early June so I fail to see how that is doing business in this transfer window, other than the administration.

Our last game was nearly 2 months ago and our next league game is 3 1/2 weeks away and the community shield less than 3 weeks. There could still be significant changes to the first team squad needed which is now getting late enough to impact on the start of the season as any ne players coming in wont have enough time to use pre-season to gel into the team and they will still need to go through medicals, etc which takes itme. I doubt we have any chance to see any other new players before the Emirates Cup which will give them 2 games before the season opener of the Community Shield.

Arsenal have history which is repeating itself. I can see any signings we make running well into the start of the season and that is disruptive to the team. want it sorting so the season can hit the ground running when the season starts and its well recognised that its better to get it done early rather than later.

And we need to concentrate on sorting first team players. Im not too worried about what we do with fringe and even loan players like Jenkinson, Debuchy, Szcz, etc. They wont affect our season.

And dont forget, arsenal have a history of leaving it late and not getting deals over the line, look at the last few seasons fiasco's trying to sign a CF.

I agree, cannot see City in a hurry to swop with Aguero, Jesus Silva and Sane, or Spurs either for that matter. United will apply the battering ram approach so cannot be compared, but City and Spurs are miles ahead. Liverpool and Chelsea hard to know.

But 2 of those players are not Arsenal players. The deal hasnt been done. You are assuming we can sign them both. It is looking likely that we will get Lemar, but its not agreed yet and anything could happen with Mahrez. Other teams could come in for him, he could decide he doesnt want to move to London, etc.

And if we do sign them how much pre-season game time will they get to settle into the team? Not much, if any.

Reports saying Mahrez may go to Roma for CL football and Lemar is looking increasingly less likely.

Moans we don't "get things done early" then totally discounts a move because it was done early
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You just argue with everything you can pick even the smallest hole in.

I am moaning because we have a large number of players with uncertainty about their future. If we had got them all signed up on a contract extension and don the business we have I would be very happy that we have finally bought a new CF and have strengthened at LB.

Instead we could have several players refuse to sign and see out either go now in a forced sale to get some funds in or allowed to go on a free in a years time, meaning we miss out on funds. And this includes our most influential player, Alexis.

And as you can see above people think we can just sign whoever we want as a replacement, but that is not the case. Look at our attempts to sign CF's for the last few years and the fact that Mahrez might go to Roma for CL football and Lemar is now doubtful. Doing a small part of our business early is not sufficient. There is too much uncertainty about too many important players.

Arsenal have failed when the off-season is still weeks away from ending (and the transfer window is even further away from ending), when it's not confirmed who's going or staying and when the club has already bought highly rated players...?

Some people just cannot be happy.

SMDH!

I said I wanted to see business done early in this transfer window. Kolasinac was already a done deal before this transfer window so how the fack does that fit in to business being done this window.
