Or do you mean the Chinese leader?
In the context of the Ukraine invasion?
Well….. it’s a multi layered thing as to him this probably marks a great opportunity for him. He can appear to be all powerful in getting Putin to reign this in and get China to be even more influential on the world stage. I’m sure he doesn’t really care too much about Ukrainians but he no doubt sees the way the wind is blowing on this and wants to be on the right side of history.
Also, China’s big project for the 21st century is their belt and road initiative (basically a Silk Road for this century) and a big part of that would involve Ukraine so it’s in China’s interest to keep the region as intact as possible. They’ve made great inroads with Zelenskyy offering Ukraine to be the bridge to Europe for China so hopefully Xi brings this to an end somehow.
Okay, cheers, boss. Doesn’t say too much about what China are doing. I hope China will lodge Putin off.
👍 I think there are limits to what he’ll allow Putin to do. The longer the invasion goes on will likely lead to some nasty weapons being used but as this invasion is the most televised war of all time the worse Putin gets the more likely it is that the world cracks down on Putin and I’m sure Xi will act when the cries for him to do so get loud enough.
Not quick enough for the people suffering now but Putin will soon find himself very lonely.
