I was probably one of the very few who wanted him as I felt any issues at Chelsea might just be that he needed a new challenge
You don't play 35 out of 38 games for a record breaking Chelsea side if you're crap. And it soon came out that it wasn't Contes decision to sell him.
I said at the start of the season he might be our Cantona and hopefully that indeed happens. Great start. Almost as great is seeing Stretty deny the sky is blue and make out he's crap.
Never change Strafi
He looked very good once again yesterday. Fellaini also did okay and did nothing wrong but we did miss a bit of imagination in the middle without Pogba.
I also thought Mata played well. By far our best performer in attack and was unlucky to be subbed but he always seems to be subbed no matter how he plays so i assume it must be a fitness thing or lack of physicality.
Good deal for all parties. Glad to see him back in form.
I'm going to wait until the end of the season. He started well at Chelsea, too. Keeping it up will decide if he's been a good signing or not. Zlatan is seen by many as a good signing but I think in the end he limited the way we played and slowed us down.
Good deal for all parties, We got a younger more combative player and Utd got a player that plugs a hole for them.
Matic is no world beater but he does the job that we needed to be done better than most. He's a better footballer than he's given credit for too. Good range of passing and a decent long range shot on him.
I'm really glad we got him. If Chelsea are happy with his replacement, good for them. Matic has definitely added something to us.
I'm going to wait until the end of the season.

goes without saying... we need to see him against the big teams too... But let's not take anything away from a very good start to his UTD career

I remember saying at the time that he could well be an uninspiring signing who could revolutionise the team. He's been very effective so far. No complaints.
I've been surprised by just how good he is technically. He never miscontrols the ball and can always pick a pass in tight spaces.
I'm constantly shocked at people continually questioning Jose Mourinho in the transfer market. No manager has a perfect record in the market obviously but his record is definitely up there with the very best. He's very good at picking the right players for the way he likes to play and he trusts Matic implicitly.
Some people on here wanted us to sign an unproven kid like Renato Sanches over the obvious experience and know how we lacked in Matic. Clear to see why Jose is the boss and not them really.
he does have a knack of being in the right place a lot of the time, also unlike pogba(not a dig) he seems to be able to use his longer frame to win balls which he shouldn't do where as pog will still try using his body a lot more in challenges resulting in more fouls given away
Thought Phil Jones was out best player for 80 mins but Matic also stood out. Terrific signing and I'm happy to say I was wrong.

Jones made one or two pretty poor mistakes to be fair. He wasn't terrible by any means but he had a few moments again. That weaker header across the area which nearly led to the Rooney goal was awful defending. Bailly was poor too allowing Rooney to get the ball off him so easily.

Yeah. He knows his next move before the ball arrives at his feet. He has a great way of shielding off players and he spreads the ball around the park well too.
Eric, noticed a couple of issues from Jones late on but I (and others round me) thought he was great. Bailly was poor, gave Rooney too much space throughout.
I did a thread about him being close to joining us a month ago, A lot of our fans didn't want him.

I just had a quick look at not many were totally against it, just the £50m quoted fee was putting people off.

I think that the general feeling was that he was overpriced and that his form of the last few seasons was worrying. The signing just felt underwhelming. However, I (and others) did say at the time that he could be just what we need to get the best out of the more attacking players. So far that seems to be the case. Very happy with how he has started.

That is pretty much where I was as well.
I have been very surprised at how easily he has slotted in.
Long may it continue.

Dave,
I can only really recall two posters on here who were totally anti Matic during the transfer window and neither of those have opinions on here that matter, as one is a total eff wit and the other was doing it to clearly WUM Robb.
